Let’s make Sweet potato chicken burgers

This amazingly sweet and crisp sweet potato chicken burger recipe is so good! This can be a substitute for the usual beef burger patties I make for the kids. The good news is it’s got less fat content and more protein.

Ingredients for Sweet Potato Chicken Burger recipe

Main Burger Patty Ingredients

  • 2 sweet potatoes
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 Tbsp coconut oil (or other light oil)
  • 1 Tbsp paprika
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Honey Mustard Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp light mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1/2 Tbsp mustard

Directions to make Sweet Potato Chicken Burger recipe

Step 1

Cut ends off of sweet potatoes.  Poke a healthy number of holes into the potatoes with a fork.

Step 2

Place sweet potatoes on a microwavable dish with a damp towel on top of them.  Microwave for four minutes, then rotate for another four minutes.

Step 3

If desired, peel the potatoes.  Cut potato into small pieces.  Mash potatoes with either a hand mixer or a masher.

Step 4

Combine the mashed sweet potato, ground chicken, paprika, garlic powder, cumin, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper.

Step 5

Shape into 4 patties.

Step 6

Heat a frying pan over medium heat with coconut oil (or any light oil, EX: Canola, Extra Virgin Olive Oil).

Step 7

Place the patties in the heated pan, and cook for 5-6 minutes per side.

Step 8

Serve with honey mustard.

Honey mustard Instructions:
Combine all ingredients until thoroughly mixed. For easier mixing, warm honey in the microwave prior to combining.

  • 2 sweet potatoes

  • 1/2 Tbsp mustard
  • 1/2 Tbsp mustard

Instructions

  1. Clean the sweet potatoes, remove the ends and poke holes around them.
  2. Put them in the microwave with a damp towel on them, microwave for about 8 minutes. You may peel the potatoes if you prefer.
  3. Cut the cooked potatoes into small pieces, then mash them with a masher or hand mixer.
  4. Combine the mashed sweet potato, ground chicken, paprika, garlic powder, cumin, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper
  5. Shape into 4 patties.
  6. Heat a frying pan over medium heat with coconut oil.
  7. Place the patties in the heated pan, and cook for 5-6 minutes per side.
  8. Serve with honey mustard.
