Every Sunday morning my husband and I sit down while the kids eat breakfast and read the Sunday paper.   Jason starts with the actual paper while I always start with the ads.   This week there was an abundance of “Back to School” sales. austin school I must admit I am a bit of an office supplies junky.   Pens, paper, folders, it all makes me happy.   I began pouring through the ads making mental notes of who had Sharpies on sale (I have a thing for Sharpies).   It was then that it hit me… I don’t need to go back to school shopping. When the last school year was winding down we made the decision that our boys would not be returning to public school for the next school year.   After a lot of research and discussion we decided that we would home school.   Over the months of May and June I began gathering our materials.   Three weeks ago we officially began homeschooling.   And to my delight it is going well. lashawn back to school FEAT It is strange to not need to go buy from a list given by the schools.   I find it odd that I know I will not have to go to every office supply store in town to find latex free, low odor, non staining, pink erasers, or whatever the newest insane thing they have put on the list this year happens to be.   I got the pleasure of buying what I knew we needed, including stinky pink erasers.   My biggest disappointment is that I don’t have an actual excuse to go shopping for more stuff.   My kids biggest disappointment?   No new backpack. It’s worth the trade off to be with my kids every day and to start on this awesome adventure with them.
