Resolutions & a GIVEAWAY

My husband and I have made it a habit to make specific New Years Resolutions every single year. We like to break our goals into 4 categories.

1. Faith
2. Family
3. Fitness
4. Finance

This way we cover all of the areas that are important to us. Resolutions are hard to keep. But that is the only way we really get better.   I hope that you learned something from 2008 because isn’t that what life is all about? Learning from our triumphs and mistakes.   Making the life changes that are necessary to grow and change into something better than we were before.

2009 in Flower Mound

    Exercising is never my goal, BUT I joined a gym today 🙂

    My biggest goal? To stop procrastinating everything. But I’m going to start working on that tomorrow.

  2. I am working on re-working my 2008 goals…since I didn’t quite get a perfect score for last year.

    My biggest one is remembering to fill the car with gas before the gas light comes on. I made marked improvements in 2008, but there is still room for improvement.

    No sitting on the side of the road waiting for help in 2009!

  3. My goal for 2009 involves my family and our chubby little chihuahua. We’ve been pretty lazy and allowed him to do the same. Our goal is to get out everyday w/ our sweet puppy and take him for walks. A simple goal w/ our dog’s health in mind, but one that will help us to stay fit as well!

  4. I would really like to start cooking more with my kids. They love and and it’s a great way to teach them a life skill they’ll always use.

  5. I am going to get to the gym, but more importantly I am going to get my rear back to church regularly. Major backslider here!

  6. I want to lose 11 lbs by my birthday (in June).

    I would also like to open a Roth IRA. Mr. Right and I want to get our emergency fund well funded (he’s in real estate) before we do that though.

    I did it! Went to the gym today for the 1st time in FIVE years. I’m in so much pain tonight, and I EARNED IT! Feels so good…

    I joined 24 Hour Fitness in Lewisville…anyone else a member there?

    I am really going to try to be a better employee in 2009- Seriously- 2008 was a REALLY bad year at work for me-
    To say I disliked my manager was an understatement- We did not agree on anything-
    I will have a new manager when I return next week- Hallelujah!

  10. I don’t have many resolutions this year. I have made it a goal to be the ultimate hardbody by the time I turn 30 on Nov. 30th but that’s not a resolution. That’s a goal I have been working on already. My real resolutions are as follows:
    1.) Speak my mind more often. I have been a people pleaser my entire life and have a horrible habit of keeping quiet so as not to offend anyone or be afraid that something I might say would make someone not like me. No more. I’m going to speak my mind even if it gets me in trouble at times.

    2.) Let go and let God. I’ll admit that I’m in need of a makeover where my relationship with God is concerned. No, I need an overhaul. I am sorry to say that I’m the world’s worst about thinking that I can do everything on my own and that God is a mere afterthought. Sure, I run to God in times of trouble and fear, but I have NEVER ONCE in my adult life gone to Him ‘just because.’ I am only one person, I do not have all the answers, and I cannot do everything on my own. I have a hard time accepting this and really, really need to work on just being still and knowing that God already has a plan for me.

    The more I keep these things in mind, the more I’m looking forward to what 2009 holds for me.

    It’s always my new years resolution to lose weight. Last year I lost some weight and this year I want to lose some more. Let’s hope I succeed.

    Just saw this one: Only drinks sodas at the movies. Too many empty calories. Hope this doesn’t drive me to see more movies.

  15. Mine has to do with the DOODLE, of course. I’m gonna walk my Labradoodle more. Seriously Bear needs to walk. So far I’ve pretty much stuck to it- which I am super excited about because after my last doctor’s appointment, well let’s just say I gasped at how much weight you can gain after a cookie only diet from Halloween to Christmas. Who knew???

    I’m going to try to keep my kitchen floor cleaner. I just hate it when my floor “crunches”. Where did all of these cracker crumbs come from…and why in the world is it so sticky????

  20. My number one goal is to read the entire Bible through the years. I have a printed plan and have pretty much stuck to it so far.The 2 days I missed, I caught up and hope not to miss anymore.

  21. So how are we coming along with our goals ladies?

    I’ve upped my goal to get to gym class 5x per week until mid-February (nothing like sporting a bathing suit in Maui to motivate!). I’m proud of myself for sticking to this…it’s really, really hard to find 5 extra hours in the week to do this but I have. Luckily, my son loves the kids’ area, so he’s excited to go when Daddy isn’t home.

    I’ve also cut out the soda. Only if we go out to eat somewhere, which I’ve also cut out! We were in a big habit of grabbing lunch on the go most days, which is silly, because we were usually on our way home anyway. I had 1 soda at Peter Piper Pizza on Tuesday and it was the first one I’ve had in a week. Feels good, you know?

    I’d love to hear how others are doing with their progress!!

  22. For 2009 I am making 9 goals. They are, in no particular order:
    1. Read through the Bible this year.
    2. Pay off my credit card.
    3. Take a dance class.
    4. Try (at least) one new recipe each month.
    5. Go on a road trip with my friends.
    6. Read 9 books.
    7. Make a living doing what I love – be it organizing, communications, traveling, writing, etc.
    8. See my mom and brother.
    9. Travel overseas.

  23. I’m going back to cash envelopes so I can really keep on track with my budget. Best of luck to me:)
