Dinner for Two {Under $20} at BJ’s Restaurants

My husband and I both work from home so one of the things we like to do occasionally is GET OUT OF THE HOUSE for dinner.  OK, I would prefer it be more frequent than occasionally, but going out to eat is pricey. That is one of the reasons I was excited to try BJ’s Restaurant Party for Two limited time  deal:

• Soup or salad for two
• ANY medium pizza
• Pizzookie to share
• $19.95

It sounded a little too good to be true. Will we leave hungry? We headed to the BJ’s Restaurant  in Lewisville to find out. We spent some time deciding on soup vs. salad. Then once we narrowed it down to salad, we continued the deliberation between house, caesar and wedge.  We ended up each ordering a wedge salad even though we could have chosen different things. It arrived as a generous serving with just the right dressing to lettuce ratio. The pizza was easier to choose.  The BJ’s Restaurant Signature Five Cheese Blend pizza on a hand-tossed crust appealed immediately to both of us. It was just meant to be. We ate ourselves silly and ended up taking a slice home for breakfast. But that wasn’t the end. There was dessert.  Not just any dessert, but BJ’s Restaurant Famous Pizookie. The menu warned us:

Save room for the often imitated, never duplicated, one and only original Pizookie.  A rich and delicious cookie served in its own deep dish and topped with two scoops of vanilla bean ice cream.

That sounds like something I would drive to Lewisville for anytime day or night. After tasting the chocolate chunk Pizookie, I would have to agree with the hype.  It was delicious.  And we ate the entire thing even though we thought we didn’t have room. So, did we leave hungry? Not even close! The amazing thing was our meal was literally $19.95 and a little bonus was that the night/time we were there many of BJ’s drinks were 1/2 price.  We usually spend more than that at a fast food restaurant! BJ’s Restaurant Party for Two is available 3/18/13 through 4/29/13.  There are quite a few locations in the DFW Metroplex and they even have a gluten-free alternative to the Party for Two menu.
