NetZero 4G HotSpot – Super Easy to Set Up & Use

I am a low tech girl that is online a lot. What does that mean? It means that when it comes to tech stuff, I have to be able to easily figure it out {Googling ridiculous tech questions is totally legal}, or I just can’t use it. When I was approached to participate in trying the NetZero 4G, I was a little hesitant because WHAT IF I COULDN’T FIGURE IT OUT? But my overriding desire for internet access outweighed my tech fears. I received a NetZero 4G HotSpot at 1 pm today.  I was surfing the internet in my backyard on it within 5 minutes. Whoo hoo! It is simple.  I turned it on and it displayed the Wi-Fi network name and password I would enter on my computer.

What is a NetZero 4G HotSpot?

NetZero 4G Mobile Broadband provides secure, mobile, super-fast 4G Internet access for your laptop, iPad ^®, netbook or tablet in over 80 cities across the U.S.  One of those cities is Dallas.  You can find out what the other cities are by visiting the NetZero websiteNetZero website.

The actual equipment is a small light device a bit less than 3 1/2 inches square.  It is about the size of a coaster.  It could easily be slipped into a pocket or purse when leaving the house. It supports up to 8 simultaneous Wi-Fi enabled devices within 150 feet.  Each of those people would have to log in with the password displayed on the HotSpot. This is going to come in very handy at our house after Santa delivers my children Wi-Fi-ONLY tablets for Christmas.  Our family can then use 5/8 of those HotSpot spots!

Is the service unlimited?

Last time I checked (in 2020), they did not have an unlimited plan.  There are data plans that offer a ton of data that may do the trick.

Do I need a phone line?

Nope.  For mobile broadband you do not need a phone line to use the service…who even has one of those anyway?

How much data do I need?

Obviously, that will be based on how much you use the internet.  Netzero guidelines are if you are checking your email and lightly using throughout the week then their Basic or Basic Plus plan would be a good choice.  If you are using your HotSpot to watch videos (like me) on a regular basis and spending a lot of time online, then the Platinum or Platinum Plus is a better choice for you.  The good news is you can switch plans.

Why NetZero 4G HotSpot?

The internet connection is private and protected.  Logging into public open-access Wi-Fi can be scary.  Now I will be taking my own network with me.  I also like that most of the places we regularly travel are among the 80 US cities supported by this service.  I might admit to purchasing a monthly airport Wi-Fi plan once while stuck in a distant city JUST so I could finish the Netflix movie I was watching.  If I had this back then it wouldn’t have been an issue. There are two speeds that customers can choose between:  LightSpeed and WarpSpeed

• LightSpeed is great for checking email and web browsing while conserving data usage.
• WarpSpeed is designed for more email, web browsing with video while maximizing speed.

But the biggest reason for me is this: It was 75 degrees today and WAY too nice to be cooped up inside.
