She Is Dallas booth at the North Texas Kids Expo. We alternated shifts and I was thrilled to “work” the booth with Chris. We had a great time meeting all the vendors and visiting with our readers and new readers as well.
One of the great finds for me was the discovery of local author, Diane Shapley-Box, creator of the award winning Apple Bunch Book series. I did not have the pleasure of meeting her, but my mother visited with her as she purchased three of her books in which Diane kindly autographed each one for her. My mother said she was lovely and a delight.
Her books, Apples for Fred and Tator's Big Race, have received rave reviews from parents, teachers and children. Her first two books take place in the characters ™ hometown of Appleton. In the upcoming books, the Apple Bunch friends will be traveling across America.
That is the book we received — Fred Visits the Emerald Coast.
Synopsis:
Fred the frog and his friends from the Apple Bunch Books are back. The pals are headed south to Florida with a happy mix of excitement and anticipation about their trip to see and explore the Emerald Coast.
Follow along as what begins as a relaxing vacation discovering the natural beauty and wonders of Florida, turns into an adventure-filled voyage where Fred finds the hero within himself.
Along the way, Fred and the beloved cast of characters from Apples for Fred and Tator's Big Race, meet new and interesting friends who come through when Fred needs them most.
In the latest adventure, Fred learns he not only has true friends at home, but also the wonderful new friends from his adventure to the amazing Emerald Coast of Florida.
Shapley-Box does an excellent job reaching her audience through her beautiful illustrations and rhyming verses. Reed (3) adores this book, as do I and we will definitely be adding to his collection, anxiously awaiting the rest of the series to come.
I encourage you visit her website and follow her on Facebook– she has an amazing talent and devotion to children’s literacy. In addition, Apple Pie Publishing is offering a 2 for 1 price for every Apple Pie Publishing book purchased and donated to the USO. Purchase 1 Apple Bunch Book and Diane will donate 2 to the USO United Though Reading Program. Win! Win!
In November, Kim, Holly, Chris and I had the privilege of attending the Welcome to Kids Activities!
