This tip is what I have noticed watching other leaders:
2. Be successful. It might sound silly since that is what this series is about. But what successful business owners and entrepreneurs will tell you is that attitude is everything. Create the illusion of success by being enthusiastic and passionate. The business will follow. Don't be dishonest, but don't be desperate! You have heard the saying, Fake it Ëœtil you make it. I recently saw a woman give a ten-minute presentation on her business and she focused on the down economy, how expensive everything was and other challenges. What I heard was a desperate woman pleading for business.
I don't know about you, but I want to do business with other successful people, people who are passionate, excited and enthusiastic. Be very careful what you are saying and communicating to prospects, clients and colleagues. If you act successful, people will believe it, you will begin to believe it and new ideas, new partners and new business will begin to flow your way.
Practical Action Step: Reach out to someone in your circle of friends or your industry who is successful in your eyes and invite her to meet with you. Buy her a cup of coffee or tea and ask her to share her best success tips.
I hope you are enjoying my series on the BE-Attitudes of being a Successful Leader. You can read the last post here about Be grateful!
