Last Christmas, instead of more dolls or Star Wars action figures to just get left on the floor and stepped on, my parents gave our children a family membership to Sci-Tech Discovery Center in Frisco. It was the best gift ever.

Sci-Tech Discovery Center has great interactive exhibits that the whole family can enjoy. Their current exhibit is called Playing With Time which is a traveling exhibit from the Science Museum of Minnesota that gives you the tools you need to see a previously hidden world: events that occur too quickly or too slowly for humans to see. The flap of a hummingbird wing. The expansion of the universe. This imaginative exhibit invites you to examine these invisible dynamics by using high-speed photography, time-lapse videos and animations to effectively turn the world's speed up and down.

She Is Dallas Info: The Sci-Tech Discovery Center is located at 8004 N. Dallas Pkwy in Frisco. Their hours are Tuesday “ Friday 10:00am-5:00pm, Saturday 10:00am-6:00pm, and Sunday, noon-6:00pm. They are closed on Mondays. Admission is $6.50, Seniors (ages 60+) $5.00, children under two free, members free. Sci-Tech Discovery Center is offering some really fun family events in celebration of the holidays. Science With Santa, December 20, 5:00-8:00 pm Join Sci-Tech in your jammies for their second annual Science With Santa! Admission is free for members and $6.50 for non-members Experience a Sci-Tech Snow Show, hands-on seasonal science activities, and crafts. Cookies and cocoa will be served in the iSpace and the Explore Store will be open for any last minute gift needs!

Family New Year’s Party, December 31, 3:00-5:30 pm Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012! Sci-Tech is hosting a Family New Year’s Eve Celebration. Put on your party attire and ring in the new year at this family friendly event. There will be games, snacks and a show featuring Molecule Man! At 5:00 pm, you’ll count down to a neutron ball drop and toast the new year with sparkling cider. This will also be the last opportunity to experience the Playing With Time exhibit. Tickets are $10 per person for members and $15 per person for non-members. Space is limited, so reserve you spot today. Please email [email protected] Winter Discovery Camps, December 19-23 and 27-30 Get your little scientist or budding engineer signed up for one of Sci-Tech’s Winter Discovery Camps, December 19-23 and 27-30. Camps run from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm with pre-and post- care available. Send them with lunch and an active imagination. Sci-Tech will provide the seasonal, hands-on discovery experiences.
