On Saturday, June Cleaver died. June Cleaver Barbara Billingsley who played the iconic role of June Cleaver on Leave it to Beaver passed away. Leave it to Beaver originally ran from 1957 to 1963.   It was 239 episodes of ideal family life.   Although it was a TV story not realistically achievable in real life, I love the sweet interactions depicted between parents and boys.   I can’t imagine that I haven’t seen every episode several times over years and years of re-runs.   It is still something I will sit down and watch. Oh, and it is much funnier to me now that I have three boys. I love how Barbara played June Cleaver with a gentle, unflappable spirit even in the midst of off-spring chaos...and Eddie Haskell. She always seemed in the know and in on the joke. I love this quote from her responding to a question about the Cleaver family:
“I just wish that we could have more families like those. Family is so important, and I just don’t think we have enough people staying home with their babies and their children.”
Good bye June.

  1. Good post. I study something more challenging on completely different blogs everyday. It would all the time be stimulating to learn content from different writers and practice somewhat something from their store. I ™d choose to use some with the content on my weblog whether or not you don't mind. Natually I ™ll offer you a link in your net blog. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I was searching for a June Cleaver image on Google this morning for a blog post and your picture is in the mist of them. Seriously!

  3. I hadn’t heard this until stopping in here today. 🙁 How sad. It broke my heart when Donna Reed died and this hits pretty close to the heart, too.

  4. I thought about you when I heard this story.

She is the reason I perpetually fantasize about vacuuming while wearing pearls.

And just not everyone can do that for you.
