Supplies Needed To Make This Butterfly Craft
- White Plastic Spoon (Or if you already have clear spoons, white paint)
- Construction Paper (We used blue, purple, pink, white, red)
- Scissors
- Zig Zag Scissors
- Glue Stick
- Hot Glue or Craft Glue
- Permanent Marker
How To Make This Simple Butterfly Craft
Step 1
Draw a face on your white spoon. We opted with a smiley face.
Step 2

Cut out a heart using your zig zag scissors. It needs to be the largest of the 4. The easiest way to do this is fold your paper in half and cut a half heart out of it. When you open it up it’ll be a whole heart.

Use the cutout as a stencil to draw the same size heart and cut it out.

Do this with the purple paper using regular scissors. Glue it on the blue heart.

Then the pink paper. Glue it on the purple heart.

Then the white paper using the zig zag scissors. Glue it on the pink heart.

Finally, cut out a small heart with the red paper. Glue it on the white heart.
Step 4

Glue the wings onto the spoon.
Step 5
Cut down pipe cleaners and glue them on, curling them as antennas. Now you have a simple butterfly!

Our Experience With This Butterfly Craft
Where we live, spring is here. I know that’s not the case in many places, but we are already quite warm. And as such, it felt right to bust out some spring crafts.
And making butterflies seemed like the perfect way to do so! These butterflies are cute and easy to make. So much so that my younger kids were even able to do it with minimal help.
We did opt to use the hot glue gun, which I helped with to make things easier. But I hope your family has as much fun as mine did with this simple and fun craft.
