Yesterday we went to a neighbor‘s house to learn and play with friends. On the way home Rhett(2) melted. He screamed the entire way home. In the driveway I sped up hoping to end the torture as quickly as possible.
The screaming continued into the house and I made a decision that he was more in need of a nap then food so I just carried him upstairs to his crib. Whew. He settled down immediately once alone in the dark.
I walked down the stairs to find Reid(4) sitting on the bottom step. I sat down beside him and scooped him onto my lap.
Me: Does it bother you when Rhett cries?
Reid: Yes
Me: Me too.
Reid: It seems like a thousand Rhetts crying.
It is funny where empathy is found…

He sure explained it well. The crying always seems worse in the car too.
Oh… so sweet… It never ceases to amaze me how one minute of the girls will show such empathy for me as the other sister screams, etc.–sharing the frustration, expressing her anger at having to put up with the racket, etc… and then ten minutes (or even less) later start screaming/acting up herself!
Yay, I can finally comment again! For some reason, the past few days I couldn’t.
Anyway–loved having you guys over & sorry we wore Rhett out to the point of meltdown. LOVE car naps!
from the mouths of babes…What a dear picture of two little angels, fast asleep. I guess those moments are meant to keep us going when the screaming kicks in. That yin/yang thing I suppose…
Reid is such an empathetic soul 🙂 So sweet. I love the pic of the back seat!
What an adorably protective brother!
LOL my children always cried much louder than other peoples kids do now.. (grin)
what a couple of cuties.
why are you using photographs? where’s our illustrations?
your slipping girl.
My kids go crazy when the little one is crying–they are always getting him and holding him and of course, bringing him to me :0
What a sweet pic–they look so cozy in the minivan of death 😉
Awww thats sweet. I love moments like that
