Learning Letters

I had foam poster board left over from a project I had made for my son’s birthday and thought I can make my own circles and use those felt sticky letters I found at the dollar store the other day. Of course I didn't want to do just circles cause they are a pain to cut in that foam board so I got creative with other shapes also thinking about sequences. Then I picked different colors he knew or had seen before and decided to add the alphabet so we could work on learning letters.

Once the shapes were cut out, my husband and I  painted each shape a minimum of 2 coats depending on the color taking care of doing the edge as well.  After all that was done we double coated each shape with Modge Podge to make them a little more toddler resistant! Our next step was to stick on some felt letters on and voilà! We had a complete alphabet for learning letters.

These alphabet tiles could now be used for just about any learning letters game we could think up!
  • Mix up the letters and have the child sequence the alphabet.
  • Name all the letters on the color purple, pink or orange.
  • What is the last letter on a star shape?
  • Introduce the concept of vowels and  consonants by making them a uniform shape for older kids.
  • Start making simple three letter words to emphasize phonemic awareness.

  1. The next time I read a weblog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as considerably as this 1. I mean, I know it was my selection to read, but I actually thought youd have some thing fascinating to say. All I hear is really a bunch of whining about some thing that you could fix when you werent too busy looking for attention.
