Let’s learn some fun facts about apples: did you know you need about 30 to 40 apples to make a gallon of apple cider? And that there are around 2500 apple varieties in North America alone?

  1. 7,500 varieties of apples are grown throughout the world.
  2. Over 2500 different types of apples are grown in the United States: Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, and Gala are a few of the most popular varieties.
  3. The world’s largest apple peel was created by Kathy Wafler Madison on October 16, 1976, in Rochester, NY and it was 172 feet, 4 inches long.
  4. Apples have amazing health benefits: they are high in soluble fiber, vitamin C, and various antioxidants, helping reduce the risk of heart disease and more.
  5. October is National Apple Month.

  1. The old saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” originated in Wales in 1866.

  5. The pilgrims planted the first United States apple trees in the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
