This month on the
Metroplex Cadillac Dealers‘ FB page something exciting is happening:
Four Dallas-Fort Worth area charities are competing for a $50,000 ad budget prize…
the “losers” are going home with money too.
- Big Thought
- The Family Place
- Make-A-Wish North Texas
- Heroes for Children
YOU can help choose the winner by voting in the Cadillac Cares Challenge (and you can vote daily).
This is all such a win-win situation and thought it would be fun to highlight each charity here on She is Dallas over the next week with a little “lobbying” from DFW bloggers who support each cause.
Today we are going to take a closer look at the incredible charity,
The Family Place.
The Family Place is the largest family violence service provider in the Dallas area. They have been providing services to thousands of North Texas family violence victims for over 30 years. Their work on our community have saved and enhanced countless lives.
Jasmine from
Dealicious Deals supports The Family Place. She writes about the scary statistics of family violence:
Did you know 1 out of 4 women in America have been physically abused?
That more than 4 people are murdered by their intimate partners in this country every day?
Or how about that 50% of the men who frequently assaulted their wives also frequently abused their children?
It makes me sick to my stomach to think about this happening to anyone.
Luckily, there are organizations out there to help get adults and children out of an abusive and potentially fatal situation.
Not only is The Family Place an organization that gives to the DFW community, they were named as one of the Best Places To Work:
The Family Place was recently selected as one of the Best NonProfit Organizations to Work for 2011. The awards program is a project of The NonProfit Times and Best Companies Group.
This nationwide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the nonprofit industry, benefiting the industry’s economy, its workforve and businesses. The Best NonProfit Organizations to Work for 2011 list is made up of 50 organizations.
