This month on the
Metroplex Cadillac Dealers‘ FB page something exciting is happening:
Four Dallas-Fort Worth area charities are competing for a $50,000 ad budget prize…
the “losers” are going home with money too.
- Big Thought
- The Family Place
- Make-A-Wish North Texas
- Heroes for Children
YOU can help choose the winner by voting in the Cadillac Cares Challenge (and you can vote daily).
This is all such a win-win situation and thought it would be fun to highlight each charity here on She is Dallas over the next week with a little “lobbying” from DFW bloggers who support each cause.
Today we are going to take a closer look at the incredible charity,
Heroes for Children.
Heroes for Children provides social and financial assistance to Texas families with children who are battling cancer.
HEROES
H – Helping families affected by childhood cancer
E – Engaging the community in our mission
R – Responding expediently to requests for assistance
O – Operating a fiscally responsible organization
E – Enabling the families to focus on the most important part of treatment: the child
S – Serving children treated in Texas hospitals
Laura at
My Dallas Mommy supports Heroes for Children because of someone very close to her heart.
This is my niece, McLain Thornquist. She’s an amazing little girl with a small frame, but a very large will to live. She has Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. My brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Cynthia have been traveling back and forth from Helena, MT to Salt Lake City with McLain, trying to beat this disease. I am amazed and humbled by the families strength and faith, love and courage. I feel so helpless as our loved ones battle this disease. I am asking for you to take a few minutes to help me Pay it Forward to a wonderful organization.
Eryn and Christy from
Mamas Write support Heroes for Children because of some of the unique programs created by this charity.
Of all the things they do what really touches my heart is their Laptops For Love program. It provides new laptops to teenagers battling cancer allowing them to keep in touch with family and friends and keep up with their school work. Considering my attachment to my own laptop and how much I loved having it with me during my short hospital stays, it's a program I am honored to write about and support.
YOU can support Heroes for Children by clicking through to the
Cadillac Cares Challenge and casting a vote.
She is Dallas info: The Cadillac Cares Challenge ends May 9, 2011. You can vote daily for your favorite DFW charity. She is Dallas and the other participating bloggers have been enlisted by the Metroplex Cadillac Dealers to get the word out about the competing charities. Each blogger was able to request a favorite charity and then write on that charity’s behalf through the generosity of Cadillac. The Cadillac Cares Challenge is a She is Dallas advertiser. Watch over the next week as we highlight each of these worthy DFW causes!
