Apple Dumplings (The Lazy Wife’s Way!)

I love the word “easy” in a recipe, and this one is as easy as it is good!   Warm, sweet Apple Dumplings are a belly-filling way to finish a meal.

INGREDIENTS:

2 pkgs. crescent rolls

1 can sliced apples (NOT apple pie filling)

2 sticks butter

1 cup each brown & white sugar

2 T cinnamon

1 can Sprite

WHAT TO DO:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Drain the juice from the apples.

Roll 2 apple slices in each crescent roll.   Tuck in any loose ends and layer in a deep baking dish.

Melt butter & pour over crescent rolls in the dish.   Mix the sugars & cinnamon and sprinkle over the rolls.

Pour Sprite around (NOT over) the crescent rolls.   Bake for about 40 minutes, or until the dish is bubbly & browned.

Let cool for about 10 minutes because the sauce is molten-hot!   These are delicious by themselves, or even better served with a good vanilla bean ice cream.
