Graduating 5th grade certainly is different from when I was little. Now, it means you are officially a middle schooler.

One fifth grade class took the opportunity to make “Selfie Planters” to symbolize having a growth mindset going into junior high and I think it’s one of the cutest ideas ever!

Fifth grade students at Carl E. Schluter Elementary got a lesson in growth mindset with their final art project in Ms. Casiano’s class.

For their final project they were asked to make “Selfie Planters” using plaster and recycled materials to sculpt, decorate and paint a “selfie” planter.

Then, once the pieces of art were ready, students added soil, seeds and flowers to the planter to symbolize having a growth mindset as they move to middle school next year.

You can watch exactly how these were made in the video below!

I think this is a fantastic idea and I think I need to have my recent 5th grade grad make one!
