Being a mom in the Dallas area has its perks. There are places to take the kids, great kid-friendly restaurants, childrens’ activities,
family museums, parks, etc. etc. etc.!
There are playgroups and
moms groups.
And if you find yourself awake attending to little people in the middle of the night, you might want to check out a local mom forum…
Actually, you can check them out anytime. That is the beauty of it.
DFW Area Moms is open 24/7 with great discussions.
In fact, DAM was rated one of the best in the country by Babble:
What you need to know: Looking for mommy friends, Nicole Eades started DFW Area Moms after giving birth to her first daughter in late 2002. Jamie Hodges joined the group a few months later, after her first daughter was born (she now has three girls). Hodges then took over the group’s leadership in 2008 when Eades moved on.
The article goes on to give some fun, behind the scenes tips and tricks of negotiating an online forum.
I have had the pleasure of talking on the phone with Jamie, DAM’s leader and reading her blog. I have been a member (not one of the most active) for several years. It is just a really great thing to be able to reach out to another local mom whenever the need arises. This is what Jamie said about that:
We believe that every mother needs a little help or support at some point and this board is a great place for moms in the Dallas/Ft Worth area to gather for just that. We have several support forums where we can discuss any problems that might arise while raising our children, brag about our kids, share photos, form playgroups, or just talk about anything on our minds.
DFW Area Moms website is free. Members need to be a mom in the Dallas area. An upgraded membership is available for $20 after a certain level of participation is reached.
