There usually aren’t parenting awards… I can only imagine THAT red carpet was chosen for its dark color and ability to cover spills and stains. …but some days, you {and I} DESERVE an award!
  • Best mom in a comedy situation
  • Best dad in a minivan drama
  • Best grandparent in a child-led documentary
5 ways to reward yourself Even though we aren’t going to be gathering in fancy outfits to receive golden statues, there is a fun contest for parents going on right now hosted by our partner, Minute Maid. ย It is “Breakfast with Missy” where you can nominate friends and relatives that are parents who are #doingood to win breakfast with Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin. ย Look below for details on how to enter! There are simple ways that we can reward ourselves for a job well-done {even if that job was just to get everyone through the day alive}! ย Here are five that I like to practice at my house filled with boys… Mini-Vacation: ย Every night I take a bath. ย It is ย a lovely, relaxing vacation from real life. ย My family knows that no one should disturb bathing mom! ย I like to read or watch TV from the tub which makes it a bit of an escape as well. Special Treat: ย Smoothies are a big treat at my house for everyone, but sometimes I forget to make one for myself. ย My favorite is Minute Maid Orange Juice, a dollop of yogurt and a handful of frozen strawberries. ย Whiz it up in the blender for 30 seconds and you can almost imagine sitting on a beach while sipping. Mom’s Night Out: ย Planning an informal get-together with a close friend {or friends} is long overdue! ย It doesn’t have to be fancy, but planning to meet without the kids for some adult conversation can give a long-lasting mood lift. Binge Watching: ย One of my favorite things to do is binge watch TV shows – it is almost like reading a book! ย I never was a big TV watcher until full seasons were available to watch in a row. ย Sneaking into a cozy corner of the house after the kids go to bed to watch some frivolous entertainment can be a well-deserved reward. Get Playful: ย Because our parenting to-do list can be overwhelming, we often forget the fun of getting to relive childhood through the eyes of our kids. ย Stop the stressing and get down on the floor and play. ย Take a trip to the park and swing alongside your child. ย Whatever your favorite activity was, introduce your kid(s) to it today!
