Christmas is one of our family’s favorite time of year. This year we started a new tradition, we are celebrating each day leading up to the Day of our Lord’s birth with a special activity. Today we played with playdough and glitter – tomorrow we plan on going out for donuts after we finish our school time. Here are several other family’s ideas of ways to celebrate Advent and anticipate Christmas. I’d love to hear some of your activity suggestions – leave a comment or link up an idea below. Many thanks to my co-hosts for making this round-up a ton of fun each and every week! Be sure to check out their blogs for other features from last week’s It’s Playtime:

Create a set of story stones with mod podge and images from the Bible Story. Practice telling each other the story with the stones during the weeks of Advent. Thanks Golden Gleam for that great craft suggestion.

This is what we did!! Serenity You inspired us to gather up all of our toilet paper tubes, wrap them with paper, staple one end shut. Then, attach it to a line with a clothespin. We filled our pouches with different activities to do together.
.
Another toilet paper tube idea came from Lucky Rock. They wrapped their tubes and added small goodies to each of the pouches. If only this were practical for a family of four kids 🙂 This calendar beats stockings any day!
.
Sun Hats and Wellie Boots had a fun idea – reenact the advent on the different days leading up to the Birth of Christ. They even used a star nightlight to be the star of David. I also love her collection of activity ideas.

Happy browsing and submitting other playful activities – as always, links back are appreciated and keep it family/kid-friendly.
