We have visited the Irving Arts Center a handful of times in the past & this little gem is something worth checking out! We have seen the play Flat Stanley, a marionette show called Willow Girl, and participated in their Family Art days. Star_Flower_by_James_Surls at Irving Arts Center What I like best about the Irving Arts Center is the variety of events they offer for relatively little money. Their stage performances average $7 a ticket, & it’s hard to find tickets for stage shows that cheap if you’re not buying a group rate. Their ticket reservation also allows you to pick your seats, a feature I love because I don’t like to be stuck in the middle of a long aisle with a boy who has the bladder the size of a lima bean! Some of the child-friendly shows coming up at the IAC include Charlotte’s Web: The Musical (October 6), Doktor Kaboom: Scientist (December 12), A Year With Frog & Toad (January 20, and The Stinky Cheese Man (March 17). There are two showings of each show on the day listed, usually about 9:30am & 12:00pm. Times vary, so be sure you check when you purchase your tickets. There two theaters, both onsite at the IAC. They have comfy seating, great acoustics, & helpful staff members. The parking is free, and it’s a nice small parking lot. Not a lot of walking required 🙂 Along with wonderful children’s performances and activities, they have a whole host of events adults would be interested in. My favorite upcoming show? A Neil Diamond tribute band called Nearly Neil & The Solitary Band. If I could only talk my husband into going with me! 🙂 Along with the shows, there is a free art gallery that is just the right size for little folks. I have taken Reese from age 2, and it’s a neat introduction to an art gallery without big crowds. There is also an outdoor sculpture garden with interesting works of art and a beautiful mosaic wall. You can easily introduce your child to many genres of creative arts within a relatively small space by visiting the IAC. Information you may be interested in: Irving Arts Center 3333 N.
