The weekends at our house have been invaded by football. I love that Stephanie is here today to share some really fun kids football party ideas! Most of these are so cute, they would work well for a party for any age football fan!
Football Birthday Party Ideas for Kids
Fall means football for a lot of households. And for the littlest football fans it also means football birthday parties. From fun favor ideas to cool football themed cakes to serving food tailgate style and easy party decorations, there so many easy ways to throw a party that will score a touchdown. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.)
On my blog, Spaceships and Laser Beams, I ™ve featured a lot of great football party ideas over the years. Here are some of my favorites, sure to please any boy or girl!
Football Themed Invite Ideas
Something as simple as putting a football-themed invite into a black and white striped envelope “ which mimics a referee’s shirt “ make a great first impression. Want to go over the top? Include a kid’s custom football jersey with the invite and ask little guest to wear it to the party.
Cakes that Score a Field Goal
One of the easiest cakes to DIY is a football field. Essentially any rectangular slab cake can be turned into a football field very easily. Just top it with AstroTurf-colored green icing and add in the lines and numbers. Purchase goal posts and other football cake accessories to finish it off.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can rent football shaped cake pans. Break out the orange frosting if you’re a novice but for the more advanced cake decorator (or the really brave/crazy), cover it in fondant and then dry brush it with food coloring to give it a vintage football feel.
Football Birthday Party Food
When the weather cooperates, turn the birthday into a tailgate party! Your little guests will think it is beyond cool to have the party food served out of the back of your vehicle tailgate style. Choose a menu that’s easy for little hands grab and eat such as muffins, snacks, fresh fruit or sandwich wraps.
If you need to move things instead, the football theme easily lends itself to serving food in a casual buffet style. Offer up traditional game day foods including dips, chili, nachos and wings and you will love tons of fans. I ™d add in a few football-shaped bowls on the table or football shaped paper lanterns above the table to help keep it looking like a cute kid’s party. There are even tablecloths that look like football fields, which are downright adorable.
Football Field of Dreams
Looking for an activity to keep boys and girls occupied? I ™m pretty sure there is nothing more fun than turning your backyard into a football field. I ™ve even seen parents spray paint their grass with a team logo and yard lines. Best of all, unlike a bad haircut, the paint will grow out fast.
If the kids are younger, give them each their own ball and just concentrate on having fun by throwing, catching and scoring touchdowns. Older children might want to be more competitive and strike up a friendly game of touch football “ perhaps even kids verses parents to keep things light and festive.
Football-Themed Favor Ideas
Giving each little guest their own foam (or real) football to take home is always a great touch. If they ™ve used them during the party games they serve a great dual purpose.
I ™d love to hear from you. What’s your favorite idea for a kid’s football birthday party?
