The First Tee
The First Tee of Greater Dallas offers a wonderful program for junior golfers. We started out with their free Parent-Child golf clinics for children ages 7-18. Â The clinic last about 1 1/2 hours. Â All equipment is provided so you don’t have to throw down a bunch of money buying golf clubs when you don’t even know if your child will want to continue. Â My son loved the game and actually improved some during this one clinic so we are looking into signing him up for one of their other programs in the fall so he can continue to work on improving his skills. Â I’m grateful that we were able to try out the sport before committing to a lot of equipment that might soon go to the sports equipment graveyard (aka – the garage).
However, it is important to note that The First Tee program isn’t just about golf. Â The First Tee is a full youth development program that also focuses on values and character development. Â The nine core values that the program focuses on include Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Confidence, Responsibility, Perseverance, Courtesy, and Judgment.

Golf Clinic
If your child has never played golf before or just wants to get a basic course on how to play, then please sign up for one of The First Tee’s Parent-Child clinics. Â They are scheduled twice a month at various golf courses around the Dallas area. If they already enjoy golf and just need to work on improving their skills then The First Tee can help them with that as well. Â Check out The First Tee of Greater Dallas website for dates and locations for their programs and consider joining their mailing list for the most current updates. Â Â For more information, please follow The First Tee of Greater Dallas on Facebook.
My son has been wanting to take golf lessons. Â However, he has already taken lessons for soccer, swimming, karate, hockey, and archery. Â Some of those activities required a hefty expense in gear in order to participate.
Golf seems no different. Â How many clubs do we have to buy so he can try out the sport of golf to see if he likes it?
The answer is None.
Yay! Â I like that answer.
We found a golf clinic where my son was able learn the basics of golf and improve his chipping, putting, and full swing skills and the clinic provided all of the equipment he needed to try it out.
But you know the best part? Â It was free! Â Totally free! Â The clinic, equipment use, green time….all free!
