In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill proclaiming November 11th as Veterans Day. It is a special day in which Americans honor veterans of all wars for their service and sacrifice to our great country.

Veteran’s Day Events in Dallas
Veterans Day Breakfast – Dallas American Legion Carl B. Fenton Post 20 invites current military personnel, veterans and their families to its 12th annual Veterans Day Breakfast, 8 to 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11. Post spokesperson Richard Wolcott announced that a full breakfast will be served, including eggs, sausage, pancakes, orange juice, coffee and tea. The event location will be the Valley Life Center Church, 1795 SE Miller Ave., Dallas. Breakfast is free, but donations will be accepted and appreciated.
Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery – On Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at 3:00pm there will be a Veterans Day Program. The Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery is located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas. For more information, please visit the

Veteran’s Day Parade – In 2011 the Veterans Day parade will be in downtown Dallas. The theme is “Remembering Pearl Harbor”. The parade will be held on Friday, November 11th, with massing of the colors and the 11th hour (11:00 AM) ceremony in front of City Hall. The parade will commence following the official ceremony (approximately 1 hour). The route will start at Reunion Arena, will proceed north on Houston Street, east on Main Street, south on Ervay Street, west on Young Street, south on Akard Street and pass in review in front of City Hall. After passing in review, parade units will turn south on Ervay and disperse south of City Hall. Military vehicles and equipment, veterans organizations, civic and corporate displays will be available for viewing at 9:30 AM in front of City Hall and will be dismantled after the parade. Veteran’s Day Run – 11k Timed Race or 1-mile healthy walk. Veterans and Active-duty military discounts available. Race will begin on 11-11-11 at 5:11pm. Veteran’s Day Events in Flower Mound
Recognition Breakfast – Thursday, November 11, 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM at Timber Creek Elementary, 1900 Timber Creek Rd. in Flower Mound. This event is free. The Lewisville Independent School District will hold the annual Recognition Breakfast for all veterans and their guests Nov. 11 at 9:30 a.m. at Timber Creek Elementary, followed by the Public Veterans Day Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at the LISD Administration Building. Veteran’s Day Ceremony – Sunday, November 6, 1:00pm-3:00pm at Flower Mound High School, 3411 Peters Colony in Flower Mound. This event is free. Join the Town of Flower Mound in honoring our Veterans. A family picnic will be held from 1:00pm-2:00pm with free hot dogs, cake, and lemonade. From 2:00pm-3:00pm, the Town will host a Veterans Day ceremony which will include a Veterans Review where approximately 200 local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and ROTC units parade before the Veterans in uniform. Veteran’s Day Events in Grand Prairie

Veteran’s Day Events in Irving
Veteran’s Day Program – The Irving Veterans Memorial Park Committee will host a Veterans Day Program at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the Irving Central Library, 801 W. Irving Blvd. The program will include the dedication of a new Police Officers ™ Memorial.
Veteran’s Day Events in McKinney
Collin County Freedom Fighters – The Collin County Veterans Memorial Park located at 6053 Weiskopf Ave will be dedicated Veterans Day 2011. The Wall of Honor will list the names of all Collin County servicemen and women who have died while serving our country. Thus far we have identified 345 names. Veteran’s Day Events in Rockwall
Veterans Memorial Dedication – Winning designer Dan Fletcher, the Commissioners Court, the American Legion and Citizen Volunteers have worked together to proudly present this tribute to our Veterans. On behalf of Rockwall County, our Veterans invite you to celebrate the unveiling of our long-awaited, first true Veterans Memorial. Rockwall County citizens and visitors can now pay homage and respect to the men and women who have served to protect our rights and freedoms. There will be a Ribbon Cutting and Open House for the New Courthouse following the Veterans Memorial Dedication. The Veterans Memorial Dedication Ceremony will take place on November 11th, 2011 from 4:00 – 5:00 P.M. at 1111 East Yellowjacket Lane, North of I-30 between SH 205 and Townsend Drive adjacent to the New Courthouse.
