You can also follow Dinosaur World Facebook or Dinosaur World Twitter. The park is in the middle of nowhere (lots of empty fields and dairy queens) and my husband and I both commented that it should be somewhere in Dallas. Like somewhere that doesn’t require an hour and a half drive, but then we understand why it was built there. It has been said that in Glen Rose, there were actual dinosaur footprints discovered near the river close by. The river is located inside the Dinosaur Valley State Park and the dinosaur footprints are located by the river. How neat is that?
When you pay for tickets and enter Dinosaur World, you are greeted by over one hundred and fifty life-sized dinosaurs, details about them, and their lives here. The trail is short enough for small children to not get bored, like my four year old, but long enough to appreciate it and the small lizards roaming around. There is also a small area where you can feed the gigantic goldfish (and one catfish) with 0.25-cent fish food that you get at that same spot. At the end of the trail, which is a circle and you end up where you started, there is a cool photo opportunity for your kids to stick their head into a giant dinosaur head. When the trail is over, there is a museum you can go into {which is air conditioned, thank God} that has many fossils including dinosaur eggs and dinosaur claws. And? A giant T-Rex head among other things. There is one thing that was super mega positively rare that we all enjoyed. You get to dig for fossils (look for scheduled times because you can’t just go when you please)! Of course, it’s only for fifteen minutes and you only get to pick out three things that you find, but it really is neat. I recommend going when the weather is not so hot because there is also an adorable playground and most of it was too hot to play on. Well, when is it not too hot in Texas, just try to pick a day when it's slightly overcast with a breeze blowing. Also, be sure to pack a picnic since the park doesn’t have any food vendors inside except vending machines for drinks. But you may leave the park and come back because they give you blue wristbands to come back inside the park. Be sure to check out the gift shop as well, which also serves as the entrance, for lots of neat things like an excavating kit that was super fun for my daughter and they have a shirt that changes colors in the sun. All in all, it was a great experience for us and we all definitely learned about dinosaurs. My daughter’s favorite dinosaur is still T-Rex, even after witnessing way bigger dinosaurs, but you know kids. T-rex a favorite this week and next week might very well be a Diplodocus. We went in the spring and it was awesome! My husband had the suggestion that they install misters along the walking trails so you can cool off.
The playground area is super nice too. And the shop inside had price points for any budget. 🙂
