My daughter made her handprints on a keepsake plate and my son handpainted a mug for me. Unfortunately, my husband didn’t realize that the pieces have to be left at the studio and picked up later after they have been fired. So for my actual Mother’s Day present, he gave me some pictures of the kids at work. A few days later we picked up the finished pieces.
It was the best Mother’s Day present ever!
Here is a list of some of the “paint your own pottery” studios around the area. Make sure to call ahead for information on pricing and how long it will be before you can actually pick up the piece.

Want a great gift for mom or grandmother?
Consider a piece of custom painted pottery painted by you or your children. There are lots of shops around the area and they all work about the same.
There will be lots and lots of pieces of unfinished pottery to choose from. Oh the stress of picking just the right piece! Do you pick a plate or a mug or maybe a cake plate? An ornament or a figurine? You might even paint your own vase and then fill it with flowers for the special mom in your life.
Whew! You finally picked out the perfect piece that will be treasured forever. Now the fun begins – decorate it! There will be lots of paint colors to choose from as well as paint brushes, sponges, etc. Don’t let it stress you out either. It’s just paint. If you don’t like the way it comes out then just paint over it!
Kids love painting pottery for gifts. Last year my husband gave me the most wonderful Mother’s Day present ever! He had each of our children paint a piece of pottery for me at Color Me Mine. The kids had a great time picking out their pieces and decorating them.
Welcome to Kids Activities!
