painting of girl and catLooking for a unique holiday gift that is truly one-of-a-kind? Take a look at the beautiful paintings and drawings at Parson White Studios. Local artist, Bev Parson White creates these handpainted works of art from pictures that her clients provide! If you have a portrait that is dear to your heart…a baby picture of your child, your parents’ wedding portrait, or even a dear family pet, Bev can create a special 9×12 pencil portrait from your own photograph for just $75.   This price is for one subject only, additional subjects are $35 each in the same piece of work.   Paintings with oils, colored pencil (baby), pastel and even wall murals are all individually priced based on your custom project. Keep in mind, the better the photo, the better your portrait will be. Don’t have a portrait for her to use?   Don’t worry.   Bev can even take your portrait pictures for a small fee. Bev works in pastel, colored pencils, oil and scratchboard.   She can paint on just about any surface that you’d like from paper and canvas to fabric, wood, and even glassware! I know my parents would love to receive a custom handpainted piece of artwork as a gift, especially if it featured their precious grandchildren. Bev is a third generation Dallas area resident. Her grandmother was an artist and some of her earliest memories are playing alongside her mom and grandmother as they painted. She received her first oils at the age of 7 and fell in love. She started selling her portraits in Junior High School. Later, she attended UNT and graduated with a BFA in drawing and painting.   Bev currently resides in East Dallas with her two children and various rescued dogs, cats, bunny and bird. She has had the joy of homeschooling both of her children from early elementary school.   Homeschooling as a single parent left little time to paint but she always found a way because she says that she is just ‘better’ when she is painting and drawing. Her kids have even been known to push her into the studio when she gets a little cranky! Bev was diagnosed with MS about ten years ago which forced her to retire and slow down for awhile but she has figured out how to deal with the challenges it presents in making art.   “I make art because it is who and what I am – it has been a deep-seated force for over 50 years and it keeps me sane.”
