Now that December has arrived, the holidays are finally here. For many, this also brings the dread of which foods to contribute to the many holiday parties we all attend.

This year – try something different. How about a dish that combines dried cranberries, cherry preserves and  jalapenos? Yes, it sounds weird – but hear me out, this is a dish you must try this holiday season and share with your friends and family.

Last year at a holiday party I tasted this delicious appetizer from a good friend that is more than grateful to share. While the ingredients sound strange together, you simply must try it. This makes a great dip served with pretzel crisps, or Fritos when you are feeling more indulgent. Use it as a topper for mini crudites along with whipped cream cheese. Or use as a salsa for grilled chicken or pork. Whatever your preference, this appetizer is a show stopper and will leave your guests talking about it until the next holiday season.   Sweet and Spicy Cranberry Dip 1 package dried cranberries 1 jar cherry preserves (not jelly or jam) 1 medium onion, chopped 1 fresh jalapeno, chopped (remove seeds) or a small handful of jarred jalapenos, chopped 1 handful of cilantro, chopped 2 TBS apple cider vinegar salt/pepper Mix and refrigerate overnight. Serve while cold.   photo credit:  http://www.uscranberries.com/index.html
