My sweet*, sweet* Reid turned 8 this week.

*Being 8 he can’t exactly show that he is sweet because that would harm his peer reputation, but as his mother I can see that sweetness abounds despite his exterior un-sweetness.

Eight is funny.

Eight predictably breaks out in random dancing.

Eight can hug, but most likely will flee if kisses show up.

Eight is staunchly anti-girl.

Eight is staunchly anti-girl with the exception of cousins and a girl that “acts like a boy”.

Eight runs.   Eight jumps.   Eight kicks his brother.

Eight swims.   Eight reads.   Eight screams and shouts.

Eight writes in marker and dreams in Legos.

I could spend all day basking in Eight…

if only I could keep up.

  1. Another great thing about 8 is sometimes you can just watch and be entertained! Like in that adorable picture!

  2. I have an 8 year old (girl)…hafta say that I agree with you. 🙂

LOVE the photo, by the way!!

  3. I am back and with vengeance. Good to see you are still blogging. My little man aka monster child turns 8 this august! It makes me sad and happy. 8 is a cool age cause you can still mess with their minds.

  4. That picture is FANTASTIC.

Eight at my house is the youngest. And he is on my nerves.

    Eight is whiny.
    Eight tattles, constantly.
Eight is very, very loud, but ironically does NOT like loud things.
Eight has figured out every single boundary that has been established by his brother and sister with me and is systematically testing each of those boundaries one by one.

    BUT

Eight still asks for snuggles every morning.
Eight still sucks his thumb when he gets tired (shhhhh, don’t tell)
Eight comes up with the most creative and outlandish costumes and stories you could ever imagine.
Eight worships the ground his brother and sister walk on.

    *sigh*

  5. What a great picture! Sounds like eight is lots of fun! I love my toddlers, but I had so much fun with older kids during all the years I spent babysitting, and while part of me doesn’t ever want my kids to grow up, I must admit I’m excited for them to be able to do more!

Eight is definitely not anti-boy, except when they are mean.
Eight is slumber party pillow fights.
Eight is new hair dos, and fingernail polish.
Eight is skinned knees and new heels.
Eight is bike riding and pedicures.
    Eight is cupcakes and sushi.
