The dreaded flu season is underway. It starts in October and runs through May. I didn’t think it lasted into May until I got the flu in May a few years ago! After that awful week, (that I will never get back) I decided to start getting the flu shot. Then I had kids and again thought, why would I give them an extra shot every year. Then the swine flu hit and my pediatrician told me “it won’t always prevent the flu but it will cut back on complications.” Again I was reminded that the flu shot made sense.
The CDC recommends that everyone over the age of 6 months should get the shot. So I guess I’m in good company. And look at it this way, the more people to get the shot, the less chances you will get it.
If you are worried about cost, we found some ways to get the shot at a discount or even free. Always call ahead to make sure your favorite store is participating. And always check to see if your insurance will cover it at these stores.
