One of the things I have LOVED about blogging is that it is a creative outlet for me.
I never kept a journal or a diary because I was afraid someone would read it.
{That seems a little ironic now that I have blogged for almost 4 years and sharing MUCH more online than I ever dreamed.}
My blogging has been a source of
creative energy. It has helped to decrease my stress level and allow me to step back and see a tough situation from a different perspective. When crazy things happen to me that would have normally ruined my day, I end up looking at it through a
how-would-I-write-this-to-be-funny filter. It has changed the way I think about things. Reacted to things. Remembered things.
EXCEPT when I am super stressed.
In fact, in those times when I can’t think of a thing to post, I realize that I am stressed-out and need to unload a project
{or two…or three}.
It is a barometer of balance in my life. When I sit down to write and come up completely blank, it is time to take action on my own behalf!
I have found that sitting down and organizing my to-do list, systematically knocking things off of that list, doing a yoga class and taking a brisk walk are all things that help me regain that creative energy.
What do YOU do when your creative energy is depleted?
