  1. Apollo is one of classical Greek mythology’s twelve Olympians (Olympian gods) For Ancient Romans, he was called Phoebus.
  2. The ancient Greek god Apollo was depicted as handsome and beardless, with long hair and attributes such as a laurel wreath, bow, and quiver of arrows.
  3. Being one of the most important gods, he is the son of Zeus, king of the gods, titan goddess Leto, and the twin brother of Artemis, the goddess of haunting.
  4. The island of Delos, in Greece, was the birthplace of the twin gods Apollo and Artemis.
  5. He was considered the gods of many things: Apollo is the god of healing, medicine, archery, music, poetry, and the sun and the leader of the muses.

  1. As the god of music, Apollo is often shown holding a golden lyre or the cithara, a musical instrument similar to the guitar.
  2. Apollo is alternatively referred to as the God of Light and the God of Truth because of his truthfulness and integrity. He was granted the gift of prophecy.
  3. God Hermes, the Herald of the Gods, and Apollo were considered best friends.
  4. Visit the temple of Apollo, a small temple built in 340- 320 BCE on Mount Parnassos in Central Greece.
  5. The Pythian Games were held to honor Apollo. The games also hosted poetry and music competitions besides sporting and athletics.
