It is super official because the sign is up and the building is painted a sea color blue…
Grapevine’s Sea Life Aquarium is opening soon.
It was vaguely advertised for months as opening in July and it has now been announced that July 12, 2011 is the official opening date.
It is located in Grapevine Mills Mall across from the theater and next to Legoland Discovery Center.
My family and I visited Sea Life last year in California. Not coincidentally, Sea Life is located next to Legoland in Carlsbad as well.
The fish you see in the picture to the left are made out of Legos and scuba-geared mini-figures were spotted in some of the fish tanks.
It is a small, interactive aquarium where kids can explore.
Throughout the aquarium were questions and learning activity stations full of fun.
We spent a little over an hour and saw the whole place including a visit to the gift shop.
My favorite thing to see were the jellyfish. They just seemed to float and glow in the dark.
It is an aquarium, so there are a lot of fish.
The exhibits are extremely kid-friendly. In this one, Rhett is actually IN the tank (in a glass bubble) and this picture was taken from tankside.
There are several places that the kids can get really close to sea life and are taught proper handling so they can touch some of the aquarium residents.
We are really excited that Sea Life is coming to DFW and can’t wait to see what the adventure at Sea Life Grapevine has in store.
