Through the years I have been getting more and more faithful about applying sunscreen in hopes of hanging onto a shred of youthful glow, but I had never really thought about what sun damage can do to hair. I have noticed that salt and chlorine really dried my hair out during summer activities.   It turns out that some of that dryness may be sun-related. Last week I visited the Aveda store in Stonebriar Centre Mall in Frisco. *stop and smell the Aveda Store* Ahhhhhh…. Aveda has an entire line of haircare centered around summer hair because the sun can do the same type of damage to your hair that it does to your skin. Makes sense! Just for fun, let’s play… Is it a haystack or Holly’s hair? haystack and hairI think it is time for me to think about summer hair! The Aveda store does all sorts of complimentary personalized consultations.   The results of my hair evaluation showed that the products that could help reverse my haystackyness (totally a word) are:
  • Smooth Infusion Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Sun Care After-Sun Hair Masque
  • Smooth Infusion Style Prep with Gloss Straightener if I was going to wear my hair straight or Brilliant Creme Curls with Brilliant Shine Spray if I was wearing my hair curly
While at Aveda, I had several other adventures. chakra evaluation from AvedaI found out that my fourth Chakra – Harmony – could use a little aligning. I will freely admit that I haven’t a clue what that means, but my aura was sprayed with something that smelled delightful.   My shoulders were massaged and afterward I am pretty sure that #4 jumped back into line without a whimper. pure fume spirit spray from AvedaAn Aveda Personal Blends Pure-Fume was crafted for me based on my likes of a series of aromas. It was a little like an eye test, only with fragrances. Do you like this one or this one? #1 or #2? The first or second? After answering, it was narrowed down to my favorite scent which happened to be Earth Nature which is aroma #12 consisting of energizing, refreshing aromas.   “When balanced, Earth brings you stability and security.” I am NOT a perfume person.   I don’t like “smelling” like something flowery or sweet.   When I am forced into choosing a scent for shaving cream, deodorant or soap, I choose a soap-like scent.   Earth Nature is very different from that, but I have worn it and REALLY like it. I feel kinda fancy having my own special scent. The whole afternoon at Aveda was heavenly.   They treated me great…and what I received is what they do for their customers everyday! All these adventures, evaluations and experiences are available to you when you stop by the store. 2. I watched How to Make Coarse Hair Smooth and Straight and I learned there are several different techniques for smoothing out my frizzy hair. Before now, I wouldn’t have dreamed of using a hair dryer!

  3. Ohhhhh, I so want this. I watched the curly hair definition one. They know what they’re talking about, but who has time for sections?

  4. I watched several how to’s. I love that Aveda has both a curly hair line and a color line. The thing I saw and found most interesting was the product “Brilliant Damage Control.” I learned it is all natural and protects hair from sun, heat, and combing. Pretty cool! i can’t wait to get a bottle for myself!

  5. I watched the one about smoothing and straightening coarse frizzy hair. I learned to use a fine tooth comb when drying hair at the hairline. Very useful! Never would have thought of that.

  6. I watched “How to add volume to fine hair.” I learned that it is easier to style hair in sections, and to add voluminizing solution to the hair’s roots to give a boost of volume where it is most needed.

  7. I watched “How to Make Coarse Hair Smooth and Straight”
I learned to section the hair in two for better results. The educator mentioned the reasons for differing application (if hair is medium or not)
She also mentioned blow drying one way, then the other direction.
The educator recommends a ceramic flat iron.
Correct. Style. Finish. Product +Technique = Results!
    I learned lots!
I’m a mom of three girls and I know they’d be happy if I won this prize. Thanks for the giveaway.
