This has been an exciting 2010-2011 year for Dallas/Ft Worth sports fans. Our Texas Rangers went to the World Series for the first time in franchise history and our Dallas Mavericks are in the NBA Finals for the first time in 5 years. The Mavs are back and with fire in their eyes. Will that be enough to defeat the Miami Heat? I certainly hope so. The Dallas Mavericks went into the Western Conference semi-finals as the underdog, going up against the NBA Finals defending champions, The Los Angeles Lakers, also known as one of the leagues most dangerous teams. Sports broadcasters, fellow NBA players, local radio personalities, sports critics all picked the LA Lakers to win that series. But, Dirk Nowitzki and his teammates wanted it, they wanted it bad – they swept the LA Lakers in a dramatic 4-0 series that shocked many. It was glorious! Next step: to conquer Oklahoma City Thunder. By this point, the predictions and assumptions had significantly shifted in favor of the Dallas Mavericks. We swept the L.A. Lakers after all. The final verdict of this series: Mission Accomplished. Our Dallas Mavericks took over the title of Western Conference Champions by defeating the OKC Thunder in a 4-1 series. They played their hearts out and in my opinion played like a team and with class. Here we are at the NBA Finals. I remember watching Game 2 of this series, we were playing in Miami and it was 1-0, Miami. We were losing the majority of the game and our boys got fired up and win the game at literally the last second, thanks to the man Dirk. He has been phenomenal the entirety of these playoff games. I always, always watch the after shows – love seeing the reaction of the fans, sportscasters, etc.. and the news flashed to American Airlines Center at the buzzer then back again after the game was over. There were 18,000 fans at AAC and hundreds more outside at Victory Park. That gave me chills! I love how our community comes together to cheer on our local teams. I love what it shows my boys, sitting in our living room, seeing thousands of people cheering on their team that wasn’t even there. They were watching them on “TV” just like us. Well, sort of. The Dallas Mavs are getting ready for Game 4 of the NBA Play-offs tonight right here in Dallas. Will you be watching? I know I will. Want to discuss it? I’ll be tweeting about it on Twitter @amberseymoretx or find me on our Facebook page. Go Mavs!UPDATE: Dallas Mavericks won Game 4 at American Airlines Center forcing the series to a tie 2-2. #LETSGOMAVS
