DIY Mummy Pumpkins with gauze
When you have little ones, carving pumpkins can be difficult and not to mention, messy! That is why I love no-carve pumpkin ideas because they take the risk of injury out of the equation and create way less of a mess.
This DIY Mummy Pumpkin with Gauze is not only easy to make, it turns out totally adorable. I mean, how could you not love this mummy?
If your child can glue and wrap gauze around a pumpkin, they can totally make this! In fact, my almost 3-year-old daughter was able to make one with a little assistance.
Aside from making these mummy pumpkins at home, you can even have students make these for your Halloween class party.
No matter where you make them, they are sure to be fun to make!
What You Need to Make Mummy Pumpkins with gauze
- Foam Pumpkins (we found ours at Dollar Tree)
- Elmer’s Glue (we used clear but you can also use the white glue)
- Rolled Gauze (you can also find this at Dollar Tree)
- Medium-Large Googly Eyes (we used 1-inch eyes, 2 per pumpkin)
- Scissors (optional) – If you do have children using scissors please keep an adult nearby to assist. We don’t want any little fingers getting cut!
How to Make Mummy Pumpkins with gauze
Start by gluing the googly eyes onto the front of your foam pumpkin. Keep in mind you want about 1 inch apart. I like doing this first so you know where to wrap the gauze around.
Next, take an end of the rolled gauze and glue it near the bottom of the backside of the pumpkin.
Now, begin wrapping your rolled gauze around the pumpkin as you like. You can glue in small sections or even cut pieces and glue as you go.
Once your pumpkin is wrapped in the gauze, cut off any excess or glue a small section and allow the rest to hang off the mummy pumpkin. Note: You can glue down any areas near the bottom or top that stick up and have excess gauze sticking up.
Display and Enjoy!
