ADDISON Summer Day Camps:

• Science is Art, Art Is Science – Ages 4-6.   This is the perfect camp for children who enjoy dabbling in art and exploring science. Campers discover the magic of science by exploring Bio-Color paint, creating stickers and color-mixing putty. Students also create with blotter and scraper art, symmetry art, stamping, marbling, and more, all while strengthening fine-motor skills. The creative options are endless!   August 1 – August 5 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Cost is $315.
• Art for the Young Artist – Age 4 – Entering 2nd Grade. In this one-week program, the young artist will be introduced to a wide variety of art materials, and will explore the many possibilities of each. The artists related to the materials will be discussed. Step into the shoes of many famous artists. Picture yourself as a pop artist like Andy Warhol; make your own self-portrait like Van Gogh; or be out of the ordinary like Picasso. The possibilities and joys of art are unique! Art for the Young Artist 1, Ages 4 -6, June 13 – June 17 from 9:00 – 12:00.   Art for the Young Artist 2, Entering K – 2nd Grade, June 6 – June 10 from 12:30 – 3:30. Cost is $185.
• Art Stars – For students entering K – 2nd Grade. Do you love to draw? If so, then this class will be perfect for you! We will learn basic drawing techniques and create original cartoons and other fun drawings. Proper coloring stroke patterns with crayons, colored pencils, and markers will be demonstrated with lots of opportunity to practice newly learned techniques. This is a great way to learn more about art and the expression of creativity. Camp session options: June 20 – June 24 from 12:30 – 3:30 or June 27 – July 1 from 9:00 – 12:00. Cost is $185.
• Creative Arts for Kids! – Entering Primer – 2nd Grade. Children will explore a variety of media from clay to chalk to paints “whatever tickles their fancy! Projects encourage imagination and self-expression. Students will be encouraged to think outside the picture frame as they learn fundamentals of painting and mixed media. They will be inspired to use their mind's eye as they develop skills in the use of color, form, design, and shape as they work in both two and three dimensions. No experience is required for this class “just a love of having fun with art. Camp will be held July 25 – July 29 from 9:00 – 3:00. Cost is $315.
• Exploring Digital Photography – For students entering 1st – 8th Grade. Students will delight in the world around them as they explore the great outdoors through the lens of a camera. The first and last classes will be held primarily inside, but the other days will be devoted to photographing scenic locations at Greenhill School. Photographing in the company of an instructor expands the students ™ seeing, technical skills, and artistry. They will have a chance to compare their vision with their instructor and other participants as they review one another's images throughout the class. Each child must have a digital camera and be familiar with how to operate it. Exploring Digital Photography 1 – For students entering 1st – 4th Grade. Camp session options: July 5 – July 15 (9 days) from 9:00 – 10:25 for $165 or July 18 – July 29 (2 weeks) from 10:30 – 12:00 for $185. • Native American Art: Explore & Excite the Past – For students entering K – 2nd Grade. It is time to explore the amazing world of Native Americans through art! This fun and completely new course will have young cultural aficionados putting themselves in the world of the Native American through headdresses, tribal dance shakers, adobe homes, creating a class totem pole, and experiencing some real artifacts! This exciting summer course will leave your child enriched and enchanted. Camp will be held July 11 – July 15 from 12:30 – 3:30. Cost is $185.
• The Art of Architecture ”and Chairs! – For students entering 9th – 12th Grade. This class provides an opportunity for high-school students to investigate and explore the exciting fields of architecture and design. Students will engage in a series of hands-on, creative problem-solving exercises culminating with the design of a chair. Activities will include sketching and drawing, model making, and working sessions at buildings by two of today's leading architects, Richard Meier and Renzo Piano. Students will tour the Rachofsky House and the Nasher Sculpture Center. Join us for this one-week session as we design, build, and develop an appreciation of the built world around us. Camp will be held June 27 – July 1 from 9:00 – 3:00. Cost is $315.
• Guitar Ensemble – For students entering 4th – 12th Grade. The main goal of this class is to develop the skills needed to perform in a group setting. The focus will be musical growth through listening, observation, and hands-on experience. Repertoire will include a variety of music arranged for guitars including classical, jazz, and rock. At the conclusion of the camp students will hold a concert for family and friends. The camp is open to students who have played guitar for more than a year and have had some prior instruction. Students must provide their own guitar.   Camp session options: June 6 – June 17 (2 weeks) from 12:30 – 3:00 for $315 or June 5 – June 15 (9 days) from 12:30 – 3:00 for $285.
• Stories, Folktales and So much Drama! – For ages 4 – 6. There are so many stories to be told! And who better to tell them than the children who hear them everyday? Our activities will include choosing scenes and acting out folktale favorites. We will learn how to work together as a team and build our skills as actors and actresses, bringing out the true character in all of us! Bring on the drama! Camp will be held June 13 – June 17 from 9:00 – 3:00. Cost is $315.
• Castaways of the Caribbean – For students entering 1st – 3rd Grade. Unexpected challenges await young castaways marooned on a chain of Caribbean islands. They must find food and create shelter while dealing with pirates, mermaids, and the unusual and often hilarious island folk. Build acting skills and confidence as you navigate the islands and find a way home. Once you’ve found your way, you will create your own adventure and perform it for family and friends on the last day of camp. All students are involved in the process and work together to create their own stories and improvise their own dialogue. Students will learn about acting techniques, story structure, characterization, and conflict. Let’s put on a show! Camp will be held June 6 – June 17 from 12:30 – 3:30. Cost is $315.
• Creative movement – For ages 4 – 6. All respond to music and sound in this exciting class as we encourage free movement, self-expression, and imagination. Through the practice of creative movement, children become more aware of how their bodies move, explore concepts of space, time, and effort as they apply to movement, employ creative methods of thinking about movement, and gain confidence in their own movement abilities. These movement skills become useful in a variety of physical activities, including both dance and athletics. Wear loose fitting exercise clothing or dance-class attire with tennis shoes/sneakers or dance shoes. Camp will be held July 5 – July 8 from 12:30 – 3:30. Cost is $150.
• Hip-Hop J.A.m. Session (Just Add Music) – For students entering K – 6th Grade. Life is always full of excitement if you JUST ADD MUSIC! In this fast-moving, high-energy dance class, you will learn the basics of hip-hop dance and different ways to count music which will then be incorporated into more advanced moves. This class will also enhance social skills, self-awareness, and confidence. At the conclusion of the class, students will demonstrate the techniques they have learned in a performance for family and friends. And remember…life is always full of excitement if you JUST ADD MUSIC and DANCE. Two options: Hip-Hop Dance 1, Entering K – 3rd Grade, July 5 – July 15 from 9:00 – 10:25. Hip-Hop Dance 2, Entering 4th – 6th Grade, July 5 – July 15 from 10:30 – 12:00. Cost is $170.
• Summer Dance Camp – For students entering 1st – 6th Grade. This class is both a challenge for the skilled dancer and a good introduction to the art of dance for the beginner. It covers the major stage dances including ballet, jazz, tap, and modern. Aspiring school-age dancers explore the techniques and skills of each dance style. The camp will include creative dance activities and improvisation as well as choreography techniques for the advanced dancer.   The class is tailored to individual skill levels and interests. Wear includes dance-class attire and appropriate dance shoes. Camp will be held July 18 – July 22 from 12:30 – 3:30. Cost is $185.
• All Sports ” Coed – For students ntering 2nd – 7th Grade. This exciting camp provides an opportunity for boys and girls to participate in a variety of sports. Emphasis will be placed on learning the fundamentals and strategies in soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, volleyball, swimming, floor hockey, and much, much more. Players will be grouped by age, gender, and skill level. No student knows too much or too little to enjoy this fun-filled camp that stresses knowledge, skill development, and appreciation of sports. Additionally, we will take field trips to other facilities to challenge our skill levels by swinging at golf balls at the driving range or cooling off watching a sport movie at the local theater. Required equipment: swimsuit and towel. Camp session options: July 5 – July 8 (4 days) from 9:00 – 3:00 for $240 or August 8 – August 12 (1 week) from 9:00 – 3:00 for $300.
• Baseball ” Boys – For students entering 1st – 7th Grade. Discover the keys to better hitting and fielding in our one-week baseball camp. Players are grouped by age and ability to enable the best possible learning. Former professional players and current Greenhill coaches provide hands-on instruction along with personalized drills, practices, and games. Newly renovated batting cages, pitching machines, and daily games, provide immediate reinforcement of the proper techniques. Additionally, players cool off during the day with a short swim in the indoor swimming pool. Required equipment: glove, cap, bat, swimsuit, and towel. Camp session options: June 20-24 or July 18-22. Each camp runs from 9:00 – 12:00. Cost is $150.
• Basketball ” Coed – For students entering 3rd – 9th Grade.   Our Basketball Camp is based on a few simple philosophies. We believe young athletes need and enjoy a lot of camp game play. Each camper has three league games per day.   Students need to have a basketball in their hands frequently. Our campers have two sessions of ball handling and dribble-move work daily.   Focused daily instruction on two major fundamentals “rather than scratching the surface with multiple fundamentals “creates more positive results. Young athletes enjoy competition. In addition to game play, our campers participate in an individual skills contest and in a week-long team skills competition.   Awards are given for team league play champions, team skills competitions, contest winners, and special honors and contributions. Required equipment: basketball attire and basketball sneakers. Camp session options: June 27 – July 1 or August 1 – August 5. All camps are from 9:00 – 3:00. Cost is $190.
• Boards and Skates ” Coed – For students entering 2nd – 8th Grade. This fast-paced camp focuses on the fun and fundamentals of thrashing, in-line skating, and roller skiing (for the xc skiers). Campers select one or more disciplines to work on, but must provide their own equipment for each. Camp session options: June 6-10, June 13-17, June 20-24, June 27-July 1, July 11-15, July 25-July 29, August 1-5. All camps are 9:00 – 12:00. Cost is $175.
• Cheerleading ” For girls Entering K – 6th Grade. Experience the fun of cheerleading! Students learn basic cheerleading skills, including motions, jumps, and formations, as well as cheers and chants ¦and yes, a dance. Participants are grouped according to age and ability. The final afternoon is a time for friends and family to see what each camper has learned. Required equipment: tennis shoes, swimsuit, and towel. Camp session options: June 27-July 1 or July 25-29. Each camp runs from 12:30 – 3:00. Cost is $145.
• Cycling, Beginning ” Coed – For students entering K – 5th Grade. Give your child the joy of riding a bike! This bike camp is for children who are just learning to ride and can't ride without training wheels or assistance from an adult. The camp is designed to teach children to ride independently. Young bike riders will learn the basics of riding and bike safety. Required equipment: bike, bike helmet, water bottle, and sunscreen. A bike lock is recommended if you plan to leave the bike on the school bike rack during the week. Camp session options: June 6-17 ($150), June 20-July 1($150), July 5-15 ($135), July 18-29 ($150), August 1-12 ($150). Each camp runs from 8:00 – 8:45.
• Cycling, Intermediate ” Coed – For students entering 3rd – 7th Grade. Intermediate cycling features extensive practice cycling in groups. Young riders learn necessary bike skills and safety rules to be capable of riding a bike on an urban trail. Intermediate cycling also raises a child's level of cardio fitness considerably, as the class is almost completely devoted to riding and practicing skills. Required equipment: bike, bike helmet, water bottle, snack, and sunscreen. A bike lock is recommended if you plan to leave the bike on the school bike rack during the week. Camp session options: May 31-June 3 (4 days- $140), June 6-10, June 13-17, June 20-24, June 27-July 1, July 5-July 8 (4 days-$140), July 11-15, July 18-22, July 25-29, August 1-5, August 8-12. Each camp runs from 9:00 – 12:00. Cost is $175, except for two shorter sessions at $140.
• Cycling, Advanced ” Coed – For students entering 5th – 9th Grade. Advanced cycling is a camp designed to prepare kids for longer recreational rides, bike rallies, and cycling competition. Time will be devoted to cycling technique, thermoregulation, nutrition for endurance, and a lot of miles on the bike! Because of the requirements for space and distance, this camp will utilize the White Rock Trail and White Rock Lake Park Trail System. Required equipment: bike, bike helmet, flat tire kit, two water bottles, sunscreen, and snacks. Cellphone or GPS recommended. Camp meets at the Valley View Park Trailhead (Valley View Lane, east of Hillcrest Road). Camp session options: June 13-17, June 20-24, July 11-15, July 25-29, August 8-12. Each camp runs from 9:00 – 12:00. Cost is $175.
• Field Hockey ” Girls – For students entering 3rd – 9th Grade. Young athletes will be introduced to the elements of field hockey and learn technical and tactical skills of the game. Sessions will focus on ball skills, small-sided games, and play. Students will be grouped according to age and ability. Required equipment: shin guards, mouth guard, cleats, sunscreen, swimsuit, and towel. Camp will be held June 6-10 from 9:00 – 12:00. Cost is $145.
• Football ” Boys – For students entering Primer – 7th Grade. This exciting camp will cover the fundamentals of football. Players will receive instruction in all aspects of football including passing, rushing, receiving, pass-and-run defense, line play, and blocking. Fundamentals and techniques of each position will be taught and practiced during each session. Various Division I college football players will be in attendance to assist in the progressive teaching of each position. We will have a 7-on-7 passing tournament for all participants and a punt, pass, and kick competition. Participants will be grouped by grade from those entering primer to 7th. Campers will get an inside look at Greenhill football as they prepare for their upcoming seasons. Excitement and enthusiasm are stressed every minute of every session. Camp will be held June 6 – June 10 from 9:00 – 12:00. Cost is $175.
• Geocaching Challenge ” Coed – For students entering 2nd – 7th Grade. Geocaching is a high-tech treasure-hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment. This camp is designed as a geocache exploration and fitness adventure. Campers learn to use a GPS to locate hidden caches. The geocaches will combine lessons in physical literacy with awareness of weather and environment, so that the campers gain understanding of how fitness and outdoor exercise improve their health, self-confidence, and well being. Required equipment: GPS or smartphone, running gear, hydration pack, and snacks. Recommended: sunblock, sun-protective clothing, and headwear. Camp session options: June 27 – July 1 or August 1 – August 5. Each camp runs from 12:30 – 3:00. Cost is $150.
• Iron man Challenge ” Coed – For students entering 5th – 9th Grade. This is a full-day camp that challenges student athletes to complete one of three triathlon distances by accumulating swimming, biking- running miles over the course of the week. Choose Full IM, Half IM or Olympic IM and go for it! This is a great camp for kids who love challenges. We work on training and competition skills, thermoregulation, endurance nutrition, and endurance sports psychology. Required equipment: a complete triathlon training kit, bike, helmet, shoes, clothing, swimsuit, towel, and support gear. Camp session options: June 6-10, June 20-24, July 11-15, August 1-5. Each camp will run from 9:00 – 3:00. Cost is $375.
• Karate and Self-Defense ” Coed – For students entering 1st – 6th Grade. Instructors will lead students through a fun-packed program of karate, other martial arts, and self-defense. We provide an exciting camp that safely introduces students to the martial arts and also polishes and expands the skills of those with previous experience. Activities include kicking, striking, and blocking drills, self-defense techniques with a partner, wrestling/ground work and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, history of the martial arts, personal safety tips, discussion about appropriate use of these new skills, and much, much more!   If your son or daughter has wanted to try karate and the martial arts, this is the perfect opportunity to train safely with high-ranking, experienced instructors. Certificates of completion will be awarded on the last day of the camp. Karate uniform available from the instructor on the first day of camp for $25. The uniform is not a requirement. • Lacrosse ” Boys – For students entering Primer – 8th Grade. Discover the keys to better basic lacrosse skills in our one-week lacrosse camp. Players are grouped by age and ability to enable the best possible learning. Coaches provide hands-on instruction along with personalized drills, practices, and small-sided games. Additionally, players cool off during the day with a short swim in our indoor pool. The goal of the camp is to create a fun, exciting, and supportive environment for your child to improve as an individual and team player. No previous experience is necessary! The emphasis is on making the game fun through a creative schedule. Having fun playing and learning the game leads to increased practice and an accelerated player. Lacrosse, considered to be the fastest game on two feet, combines many of the elements of basketball, soccer, and hockey. Campers should dress each day in a T-shirt, shorts, socks, and outdoor shoes/cleats. Required equipment: swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, stick, helmet, gloves, pads, mouth guard, and cup. Limited equipment may be available to borrow from the School. Camp will be held July 25 – July 29 from 9:00 – 12:00. Cost is $145.
• Lacrosse ” Girls – For students entering 3rd – 12th Grade. Join the Greenhill Girls Lacrosse Camp for five days of fun, fast-paced lacrosse instruction. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced lacrosse player, our camp has something to offer you. The beginning player will benefit from intense stickwork and individual instruction. Experienced lacrosse players will have the opportunity to work with coaches to take their game to the next level. Instruction focuses on skill work and full-field strategies. Open to all levels. Required equipment: sunscreen, stick, goggles, and mouth guard. Optional equipment: gloves and cleats. Limited equipment may be available to borrow from the School. Lacrosse 1, Entering 3rd – 7th Grade, July 11-15 or Lacrosse 2, Entering 8th – 12th Grade, June 27 – July 1. Each camp runs from 9:00 – 12:00. Cost is $145.
• Comet/Greenhill Soccer ” Coed – For students entering 4th – 8th Grade. Comet Soccer Club and Greenhill School join forces to enhance the level of youth soccer. This camp is designed to elevate each campers ™ knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to reach the next level of soccer. This will be achieved through both individual instruction and competitive game scenarios. Required equipment: outdoor cleats, indoor shoes, shin guards, swimsuit, towel, water bottle, sunscreen, and ball. Camp will be held June 20 – June 24 from 9:00 – 3:00. Cost is $165.
• Soccer ” Boys or Girls – For students entering K – 4th Grade. Players of all abilities will be challenged in the technical and tactical aspects of the game of soccer. Each day will include individual skills training and small-sided games. The directors believe in the importance of players developing through doing, so activities and games are designed to maximize the amount of touches players get on the ball. One camp day will be dedicated to an all-camp indoor World Cup, which is always a camper favorite. Each day the campers will finish the hot morning with time in the pool. Every day, please have campers wear indoor shoes (any flat, non-marking athletic shoe) to camp for the skills warm-up in the gym. We will then assist the campers with getting on cleats to go outside. Required equipment: indoor athletic shoes, soccer cleats, shin guards, sunscreen, swimsuit, and towel. Camp will be held June 13 – June 17 from 8:30 – 12:00. Cost is $160.
• Swim-Bike-Run ” Coed – For students entering 1st – 5th Grade. S-B-R camp will build better swimming, biking, and running skills for any student who wants to perform in these activities. In the pool, children will get the repetition needed to solidify what they have learned in lessons. On the bike, students will learn essential bike safety, handling, and group riding skills. Campers will also do a little cross country running, along with efficiency drills. We also throw in some agility, balance, and core work to help them learn to cross train and maintain multi-sport skills. Children must be able to swim one lap of the pool and ride a bike without training wheels. Required equipment: running gear, swimming gear, water bottle, sunscreen, bike, bike helmet, and towel. A bike lock is recommended if you plan to leave the bike on the school bike rack during the week. Camp session options: May 31 – June 3 (4 days) for $140, June 6 – June 10, June 27 – July 1, July 18 – July 22, August 1 – August 5. All camps run from 9:00 – 12:00. • Swimming, Recreational ” Coed – For students entering 1st – 8th Grade. After a day at camp, cool down and relax with your friends in our recreational swim program. Our beautiful indoor pool provides the perfect setting for some recreational free-time swimming and playing. This program, designed for fun and aerobic exercise, is offered for eleven weeks in the summer. Prerequisite: Students must be able to swim independently. Required equipment: swimsuit and towel, goggles optional. • Water Games ” Coed – For students entering K – 7th Grade. Water games is a half-day afternoon camp, designed for campers to have some fun in the pool and cool off on a hot summer afternoon. We will play a variety of games with teams, relays, balls, and other aquatic equipment. Prerequisite: Students must have completed Intermediate Swimming. Required equipment: swimming gear, towel, and snack. Camp session options: August 1 – August 5 or August 8 – August 12. Each camp runs from 12:30 – 3:00. Cost is $150.

ALLEN area Summer Camps:

Eagle’s Wings Athletics – 104 N. Greenville Avenue in Allen. For more information, please call 972-727-9911 or visit the Eagle’s Wings Athletics website.   The purpose of EWA Summer Adventure Camp is to provide a quality program that encourages kids to set personal goals, challenge themselves and develop good sportsmanship and team work skills while enjoying a fun and active day camp experience. EWA Summer Adventure Camp offers a unique and rewarding program to help children learn to set and achieve goals. Each camper will set their goals based on the list of challenges they receive on the first day of camp. Campers can share their achievement with their family and friends at the Award Ceremony on Friday afternoon. Water Wednesday is back this year! Children ages 3 and older (must be potty trained) are welcome to come to camp. You can choose from 2, 3, 4 or 5-day camps and stay from 8am – Noon (ages 3+), Noon – 4pm (ages 3+), or 8am – 4pm (ages 5+). The choice is yours! We even offer Extended Camp Care from 4pm – 6pm at a reasonable rate.   Registration fee is $20.   You can pay by the session: 1-25 is $22 per session; 26-50 is $20 per session; 51-75 is $18 per session; 76+ is $15 per session.   There is also an option to pay by the week – 1/2 day Monday-Friday is $100 or full day Monday-Friday is $160.   Camp sessions are as follows:

ROBOTS-4-U –     Courtyard Marriott Hotel Dallas Allen at the John Q. Hammons Center, 210 East Stacy Road in Allen.     Ages 7 – 17, girls and boys.   90% Hands on Individual Design, building and creating.   Instructors approximately 1 for every 9-11 kids.   Individuals will grouped to their own level. Age 7 to 8 (beginner) will build 2-4 structures. “ Beginner will build 2-4 structures, up to 5 robots. Age 9 to 13 (beginners to intermediate) will build & program 6-10 robots. Age 14 to 17 (intermediate) will build, program & test 7 to 10 robots, including custom designs.   Campers bring own lunch and drinks.   Robot KITs and Computers are loaned to campers to suit camper's level and age. Kits can be purchased.   Camp will be held Mon – Fri from 9:00 – 3:00. Starting at approximately 2:00 pm on Friday, friends and family are invited to see the last robot that was build on Friday. • Week 2: Books Come Alive (June 13 – 17)   Get Loose with Mother Goose (Toddler & Transitional students) Rhymes are an introduction to children's literature and are found in many cultures throughout the world. Mother Goose verses are classics and excite a young child's auditory mode and help to promote good listening skills, a prerequisite for beginning reading and writing. They are short and filled with action! A true treasure not to be forgotten!   Caldecott Winners (Primary-First Grade students) Caldecott winners, recognized as the most distinguished American picture books of their time, have a special power to bring stories to life. The art and the text in these books build on each other, together creating a complete story. The students will use Caldecott books across the curriculum (reading, writing, math, science, social studies and art) to explore and experience the illustrations of fascinating characters, interesting events and much more.
• Week 3: E – I – E – I – O (June 20 – 24) Old MacDonald’s animals will be in the barnyard this week as the students “moo, oink and cock-adoodle-doo” their way through art projects and make stick puppets to retell and sequence literature, sing songs and learn about animal life down on the farm: farm dwellers, farm landscape, farm foods and farm fun! Literature selections, math and language arts activities and more culminating with a Pet Parade!
• Week 4: Little Chefs (June 27 – July 1) Healthy Choices (Toddler & Transitional students) Young chefs will enjoy several sensorial experiences while they touch, smell, taste, identify and explore textures of a variety of healthy foods and snacks. They will build their own flower garden with vegetables! Kids in the Kitchen (Primary-First Grade students) Young chefs will mix and stir their way to heaping helpings of learning skills and reading fun. They will explore the food groups as they prepare healthy foods/snacks related to popular themes and literature. The students will also: follow step-by-step recipes (following directions), observe safe cooking habits, use cooking utensils appropriately (measurement, etc.) and have super fun making and eating their very own specialty culinary creations. • Week 5: What Is A Family? (July 5 – 8, Closed Monday, 7/4)   Cultural awareness will be brought to the classroom with activities across the curriculum. The student will take an imaginary trip around the world and experience family life in a number of different countries. Basic information about the family tree will be introduced along with fascinating facts, music and crafts. Families will be invited to share cultural artifacts, clothing, toys, games, etc. from other countries.
• Week 6: Jungle Mania (July 11 – 15) Monkey Mania (Toddler & Transitional students) Come read, watch and play with everyone's favorite monkey, Curious George. He is a beloved and inquisitive little story book monkey whose travels will help young students explore! Zipping, Zapping, Zooming Bats (Primary-First Grade students) The students will examine the characteristics of bats and explore whether bats are birds or mammals. They will classify the two main groups of bats, identify their habitats, diet, defense system, life cycle and much, much more. While doing so, the students will share bat poems and songs, discover bat myths, facts and opinions, create bat games and graphs, sequencing activities, cook up bat treats and more.
• Week 7: To Infinity & Beyond! (July 18 – 22) The younger students will blast off to explore the sky above Earth’s atmosphere; older students will rocket through the solar system. The sky, sun, light, gravity, moon, stars, constellations, planets, galaxy and space travel will be explored through songs, poetry, finger plays and movement activities, games, arts and crafts, models, story sequencing and experiments. Older students will visit the Planetarium at UTA.
• Week 8: What's Bugging You? (July 25 – 29) Words like egg, larva, pupa and chrysalis may be used to describe the life cycle of insects that undergo metamorphosis. Symmetry will be used in art projects as the students examine the characteristics of bugs. Literature, songs, rhymes, finger plays and cooking activities will be introduced as the students classify, make connections, compare and contrast, make observations, and explore the habitats, diet, and defense systems of bugs, caterpillars and butterflies.
• Week 9: Weather Or Not (August 1 – 5) In Texas people say, _”If you don’t like the weather, just wait a few minutes.”_ No matter what the weather is, this classroom weather center will be the perfect climate for students to explore the weather of each season through movement, music, arts and crafts, experiments, solar snacks, math and language activities. First-hand knowledge about the weather will be shared with students from a local meteorologist.

River Legacy – 703 NW Green Oaks Blvd in Arlington. Summer adventures at River Legacy Living Science Center provide students with an exciting hands-on, minds-on opportunity to explore the natural world. A variety of weeklong programs in June and July offer children engaging ways to learn about wildlife, ecology and the environment. 2. Win Kids GoCamps!  – One-day themed field trips to DFW's best places for children! Guided by our most experienced camp staff and coaches, these focused, select daytime activity camps take the kids to the action and immerse them in themed activities of their choice for a real camp day to remember! • Horsemanship Camp – Ages 5 “ 12.   For the Love of Horses! Win Kids takes a lucky group of horse lovers to meet, greet and love on some real western heroes! Bucky, Zach, Sugar, Moose and Cody and other horses are all waiting to be brushed and groomed by your camper.   We will feed and water the horses, learn to lead (walk) them in the round pen and even get to tack up and ride (behind a lead rope). Each camper will select a song and experience what it feels like to be a Pop or Rock Artist working on an album in a recording studio.  Vocal coaches will help with song selection, pitch, melody and overall performance to make you sound your best!   Our goal for the day is to complete a one hit CD with you as the Star! • Pilot Knoll Creek Adventure – Ages 6 “ 12.   Win Kids Adventures presents a voyage through the wilds of Copper Canyon, through the trails, down the Pilot Knoll Creek and back to base camp. Campers gear up to hunt rocks and gather driftwood, leaving base camp on the trail and dropping large rubber boats into the creek that feeds Lake Lewisville. Board these voyagers with excitement and experienced guides to arrive at an island for picnicking in the backwoods of suburbia. • Splash Extreme “ Lakeside Adventures – Ages 6 “ 12. This full-day camp is for kids wanting a fun, well-supervised day at the lake. Grand Prix Stables – 1871 FM 407 in Northlake (15 minutes from Fort Worth).     There will be multiple sessions each running a week long. The camps will be geared towards ages 5-12 with campers divided into age groups. Each day, campers will groom and tack horses and have riding time. Riding instruction will be in the English Riding style. However, we do have a number of Western saddles if campers prefer. Focus will be on equitation as the most effective way to ride and will stress proper use of hands, legs, and body position. Each camper will set their goals based on the list of challenges they receive on the first day of camp. • Summer Camp One-Day: Little Dog Two Drawing – Age 4-12. Learn drawing techniques as we explore the unique eccentricities of the little dog. From Dorothy’s Toto to countless celebrity chihuahuas, these little mights are packed with character. Students can bring in a picture of their dog or work from our library of images to draw a realistic and a stylized little dog diptych.   Camp will be held Saturday, June 18 from 9:00 – 12:00. • Summer Camp One-Day: No Place Like Home Drawing – Ages 4-6 and 7-12.   Students will love getting technical as they render their own homes in mixed drawing media. Use perspective and rulers, drafting materials, and texture rubbing to recreate your dreamy home inside and out. • Summer Camp One-Day: Hot Air Balloon Sculpture – Ages 4-6 and 7-12.   Use geometry, creativity, and all the colors in the rainbow to create a beautiful paper hot air balloon and basket to ride in. THE COLONY Day Camp for Kids:

ROBOTS-4-U – Comfort Suites, 4796 Memorial Drive in The Colony. Ages 7 – 17, girls and boys. 90% Hands on Individual Design, building and creating. Instructors approximately 1 for every 9-11 kids. Individuals will grouped to their own level. Age 7 to 8 (beginner) will build 2-4 structures. “ Beginner will build 2-4 structures, up to 5 robots. Age 9 to 13 (beginners to intermediate) will build & program 6-10 robots. Age 14 to 17 (intermediate) will build, program & test 7 to 10 robots, including custom designs.
