BORDEN MILK PARTNERS WITH LOCAL MEDIA PERSONALITIES TO HOST ELSIE THE COW ™S READING HOUR AT THE STATE FAIR OF TEXAS
Children listen to stories and receive free milk, cookies, books and more
WHAT: Dallas-based Borden Milk and Reading is Fundamental (RIF) the oldest and largest nonprofit literacy organization in the United States, have teamed up with local radio and television personalities to celebrate children's literacy at
Elsie the Cow's Reading Hour. They hope to encourage children across the Metroplex to fuel up to be smart with healthy eating and reading habits.
Media personalities will take turns reading books to local children while they enjoy fresh, local Borden Milk and cookies.
The event is open to all State Fair attendees, and the children will have their photos taken with Elsie the Cow and receive giveaways, including free books. Borden Milk and RIF representatives will also be available to answer questions about reading, milk and Elsie the Cow.
WHY: The ability to read is an essential tool for success, but illiteracy is still widespread amongst today's youth. Through this event, Borden Milk and RIF hope to help children understand that reading is more than just words on a page “ it can, and should be, interactive and fun.
