Happy Memorial Day!! Are your kids out of school yet? Or will they be soon? Either way, we welcome summer with a BANG in our home. Here are some fun ways we have done it it in the past and a few other fun ideas we are going to try!
Welcome to Summer School Bus Stop Party! For the past 3 years we have welcomed our kiddos off the bus on their last day of school with balloons, party horns, and a big “Welcome to Summer!!” poster. We always have popsicles and there is excited talk about what the next 3 months have in store for them all.
I Gotcha!! Ambush them with Water Guns and Water Balloons when they get home from school! You’ll be giggling in no time!
Create an “essentials for summer” basket for the family! Tailor a basket filled with summer goodies for your family. Our includes brand new goggles and pool towels, a new game, books, sunblock, and fun summer snacks.
Have an Outdoor Movie Night! Project a movie on a “Big Screen” (aka a big white sheet hung up on the side of your house) in your backyard and invite friends over for popcorn and a movie under the stars! Another fun idea, if you have a swimming pool, is to let the kids float in the water while watching the movie..a Float-In!!
Setup a Neighborhood Block Party to Welcome Summer! Get with your neighbors and set up a fun block party to welcome in the summer together. Make it easy with an ice cream social or order pizza. Nothing better than sitting outside, visiting with your neighbors while the kids ride bikes and play games up and down the street. Sometimes our block parties last for hours – it really is a great way to spend time with your neighbors!
Anyway you do it, it’s an accomplishment that our kids have finished a full year of school!! Celebrate them in a fun way!
