This month, go on a mission and learn the value of teamwork when Sherlock Gnomes hits theaters on March 23.

Our favorite characters Gnomeo and Juliet return for this family friendly, fun-filled adventure, so we decided to add them and their friends to our home by making DIY Garden Gnomes!

We painted our garden gnomes to look like the characters from the movie — my son was so excited to add details and try to make them look just alike.

DIY Garden Gnomes

Here’s what you need to make DIY Garden Gnomes:

  • Craft stick spoons
  • Acrylic paint (we used peach, red, white, light blue, yellow, dark green, and brown)
  • Paint pens (black, blue, red, green, yellow, and white)
  • Fine tip permanent marker

Garden Gnomes in Plant

Use the pointed end of the wooden spoon as the hats for the gnomes. Use the rounded end for Watson’s hat (so he will be upside down compared to the other characters).

Start with a base coat using the peach paint. Paint each character’s hat and body, then add details using the paint markers.

Once the sticks are dry, stick them into your planter or the ground near your garden.

Sherlock Gnomes

They’re on a mission to bring every gnome home.

After a string of garden gnome disappearances in London, Gnomeo & Juliet look to legendary detective Sherlock Gnomes to solve the case of their missing friends and family.

Take your family to see Sherlock Gnomes in theaters March 23!

We have so many Gnome crafts that you should check out!
