The
Genghis Khan exhibit will be at the Irving Arts Center all summer. It is a great place to take the whole family.
Don’t overlook the
kid activities that are scheduled at the Irving Art Center as well!
There are two summer camp sessions associated with the exhibit where your
kids ages 6-12 can learn more about this fascinating time in history.
Secrets of the Silk Road Summer Day Camp
From July 11 – 15 for a full day (8 am to 5 pm) kids will:
- create Mongolian masks from Papier Mache
- build a ger
- make felt
- practice Chinese brush painting
- be introduced to basic calligraphy techniques
- stretch with yoga
- make stamps
- create mosaiacs
- construct mandalas
History, Horses and Tribal Handicrafts Summer Day Camp
From July 25 – 29 for a full day (8 am to 5 pm) kids will:
- make paper
- weave with colorful thread
- paint animals inspired by the Mongolian beasts of burden
- design Mongolian-inspired costumes, headdresses, and jewelry from found objects
- study battle strategy
- experience dance

There is also a Lyrics Stages Broadway Stars Camp at the Irving Arts Center in July which is obviously not related to Genghis Khan, but information is on the Irving Arts Center website as well.
