A force to be reckoned with.
From birth he has been negotiating, manipulating, cajoling, and consoling. He has learned to be loud to be heard. He has learned to push harder to be noticed. He has learned to be fast to keep up.
And really, up to this point it was all about keeping up. Keeping up with two older brothers who hung the moon.
Until today.
When he fired them.
Obviously, he wasn’t pleased with their performance because he whirled around, looked up, pointed and yelled, “You are fired”.
I thought it was a pretty good scene. They WERE being pains. I would have fired them too if I had thought of it.
At dinner, Rhett was finishing up his meal and looked me square in the eye and said, “Mom, if you don’t give me dessert, I am going to fire you“.
What?
We then discussed the family organizational chart.
We then discussed the pros and cons of firing mom.
He then retracted his statement and left the table without dessert to search the house for the cat…
who has a work record worthy of his firing.
Rhett(3) has been nurtured to be a force.
