A Derby in North Texas?

Why, yes darlin’!

Come out to An Evening At The Derby for a fun night of horse racing, food, contests, and prizes – all to raise funds to support City House, an emergency shelter for children and young adults as well as transitional living for older children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or are homeless.

She Is Dallas Info:   An Evening At The Derby will take place at on October 1, 2011 at 6:00 pm at the Marriott Shops of Legacy, 7121 Bishop Road in Plano. Prize drawings include an Apple iPad 2, a trip to Monterey, California, and a Dining Extravaganza.

Live auction items include Night Out at The Shops of Legacy, Discover Dallas Package, Kentucky Derby Experience, Night with the Dallas Stars, Nappa Valley Wine & Cheese Experience, Ultimate Bar-B-Que for 50, Dirk Nowitzki Autograph Shoe, Wall of Wine, and an Autographed 2007 Masters Flag.

For the first time ever, An Evening At The Derby will host a Derby Hat Contest.   The best Derby Hat will win a prize worth at least $100.   You can enter the Best Derby Hat contest for only $5.00 if you register right now but you’ll have to pay $10.00 if you wait to register at the door.

Collin County has approximately 1,100 homeless youth. Each year 10,000 children are removed from their homes in North Texas.

Those are some scary statistics. But it is conforting to know that City House is there.

In 2010, City House provided safe and encouraging homes to more than 200 youths. City House provides shelter primarily to youth in North Texas (Collin, Dallas, Tarrant, Rockwall, Denton and Kaufman).
