  1. The Nile is a larger river in northeastern Africa that flows into the Mediterranean Sea and is a big tourist attraction.
  2. The Nile runs through 10 different countries: The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, South Sudan, the Republic of Sudan, and Egypt.
  3. It is the longest river in Africa and has historically been considered the world’s longest river, but some researchers say the Amazon River is slightly longer.
  4. The name Nile comes from the Greek word but ancient Egyptians called it the black river because of the colors of the sediment that the waters carried.
  5. The source of the Nile is the rivers that flow into Lake Victoria and empties into the Mediterranean Sea more than 4,100 miles to the north.
