Let’s make a super cute penguin origami!

This tutorial is a great activity you can set up with very little prep, making it perfect for those days when you have limited time but still want to keep the kids busy. Plus, it’s a great way for children of all age groups to practice their fine motor skills while waiting for dinner to be ready.

So, get your square sheet of origami black and white paper and follow the step-by-step photos!

This is all you need to make an origami penguin.

Supplies Needed To Make a Simple Paper Penguin Origami

  • 1 sheet of origami paper, preferably white on one side (if you don’t have black, use a dark blue, purple or any color you like!)

Easy Origami Penguin Instructions

Make a triangle-like shape.

Step 1

Fold the color side in half corner to corner, so the white side (or non-black side if you use another color) is on the outside.

This step is just to make a crease down the middle!

Step 2

Open.

Make a small fold.

Step 3

Fold the bottom corner about a centimeter less than halfway.

Step 4

To form the wings: Turn over. From the top corner, fold the left corner a little more than half way towards the center.

From the top corner, fold the right side corner a little more than half way towards the center.

To make the head of the penguin, fold the top corner down.

Raise the center crease up in a mountain fold, where the sides fold back flat.
