young family For many moms, immersing oneself into the world of a stay-at-home parent can be a shocking transition. And over time, moms often begin to long for another outlet for their creative energies. Some may return to an old hobby or pick up a new one. Some seek out playgroups or volunteer organizations. And others seek out part-time employment – the kind that allows for flexible work hours. Local DFW resident Caroline Pfeiffer is one of the growing numbers of part-time work-at-home supermoms. Caroline ended up with the perfect work-at-home job with Juice in the City . Juice In The City is a mom-founded daily deals company out of the San Francisco Bay Area that’s been banking on the power of moms for a full year now.Hundreds of moms work part-time for Juice in the City to make money and support small business in their local communities. In 2012, Juice in the City expects those numbers to grow into the thousands. Here’s Caroline’s story: Before I became a mom, I worked for PepsiCo Foodservice in both Marketing and Sales for 6 years. It was a wonderful job, but I knew that after having children I wanted to step into the role as a stay-at-home-mom. Going from a 2-income household down to 1 is a major transition and can be stressful at times. I was always on the lookout for the perfect part-time job that would still allow me to be at home. This was not an easy task. After signing myself up for the daily emails on the Juice in the City web site, I noticed they were looking for Local Business Consultants and I thought it looked like a great opportunity. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. You choose your hours and the vendors you want to approach for deals, and best of all, these are the places you probably already go to on a weekly basis! It is definitely a job for an outgoing and people-person, but having a background in sales isn't necessary. Being able to work around our play dates, doctor's appointments, and the inevitable things that come up when raising a 1 year old make it such an ideal position for a full-time mom. Each morning I make a plan for the day, and call and email vendors while my daughter naps. I make follow-up appointments if necessary and have even brought my daughter with me on a few sales calls. In fact, I think her cuteness helped me close a few deals! Juice in the City is all about supporting moms and giving them the tools they need to be successful, and it is the perfect job for a full-time mom looking to make some extra money for her family. Juice in the City has been a wonderful way for me to step back into the real world and continue to raise my daughter full-time at the same time. I also feel like a local hero. I know I’m helping local business owners bring in valuable customers. With the Great Recession still looming large in our rear-view mirror, businesses are seeking out part-time workers more than ever. That means that moms like Caroline can enjoy earning a little extra coffee money while still having the ability to be home with their families. Caroline was smart to seek out a small, growing company founded by moms. Typically, mom-founded companies like Juice in the City understand and welcome the work-at-home mom and in fact, rely on them to make their businesses successful. JITC expects their mom-driven sales force to grow to 2000 in the next year.
