It’s time for more words that start with the letter R!
If you’ve been following along with our letter R Activities, this should be a piece of cake!
SIGHT WORD LIST
There are some letter R words that just don’t quite make sense. Not even when we try to sound them out! For those words, we rely on memorizing a sight word list. This list of words can be as long or as short as you like – the more, the better!
As we start to list Kindergarten Sight Words and 1st Grade Sight Words, it becomes apparent that there are far too many to try to teach at once. But – we have a solution! Grouping these challenging words by the letter they start with, helps to keep lessons fun and on-point without being overwhelming. We love being able to have a short sight word list for the letter R ready for you to share.
Don’t forget to practice writing the letter R, as well!

If you’re having any trouble figuring out how to make a sight word memorable to a Kindergartner, my first instinct is always to ask them what they think the word is. Then, you will be more able to find what is connecting for them already. From there, you can follow their natural learning style to a solution that cements their understanding of words that start with the letter R.

These spelling lists are for Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, and 3rd Grade. However, that is not a set rule.
