Cute Pet Rocks Craft For Kids
These were originally going to be bugs, but we decided to make rock creatures instead. Basically, my daughter began naming them after her pretend friends. At least her pretend friends now have “faces.” Get creative and you can have fun creating pet rocks, pretend rock friends or paperweight bugs.

Make Pet Rock Creatures
Grab some rocks, craft supplies, and let’s make some super cute pet rocks!
Supplies Needed For This Fun Pet Rocks Craft
- Rocks
- Old toothbrush to clean the rocks
- Craft paint (acrylic is best)
- Paintbrushes
- Embellishments such as pom-poms, googly eyes, feathers, etc)
- Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
Directions Needed For This Adorably Awesome Pet Rock Craft
Step 1
First, scrub the dirt off the rocks with an old toothbrush and allow the rocks to dry completely (use a hairdryer for faster drying time).
Step 2
Next, paint the rocks. We used yellow, blue, and orange.
Notes:
You may need two coats of paint and you’ll want to cover your crafting area with newspaper or plastic to protect your working area since acrylic paint does not come out easily.
Tips:
Afterwards, you could also add a layer of glow-in-the-dark paint once the acrylic paint dries.
Step 3
Third, using the hot glue gun and hot glue sticks adhere googly eyes, pom-poms, feathers or any other embellishments to your rock creatures.
Notes:
Young kids will need an older child or adult to help them with this step.
Step 4
Finally, display your rock creatures for all to see!
