Edible Dirt Pudding: Preschool Party Idea

My kids love to play in the dirt.  For their last Birthday party we had a dirt/bug theme.  The kids got to make their own dirt dessert and added bugs to their individual servings.  Here is an easy “dirt” recipe.

Ingredients for the dirt:

• Brownie Mix
• 8 eggs
• Heavy Whipping Cream
• Coco powder

Bake the brownies as directed only add an extra egg and an extra tablespoon of water to the batter.  This will make the brownies more cake-like and dryer.  While that is baking, heat the cream till it is starting to steam, add the eggs and beat on high.  While it is mixing add a couple of tablespoons of coco powder.   Place the cream mix into the refrigerator to set while your brownies finish baking and cool completely.   A couple hours later, when the brownies are room temp and the cream is chilled, crumble the brownies, mix the cream into the brownie crumbles till everything is moistened.  Reserve some of the brownie crumbles and pour them on top of the wet dirt.  You can either add bugs to the top of your dirt, or we had some containers so the kids could serve themselves their own bugs.

• Peanuts (beetles)
• Dried Cranberries
  (aka. lady bugs)
• Green sprinkles (grass)
• Coconut (inch worms)

• Have a decorate your own cupcake party
• Create your own Icecream Sundaes
• Make your own mini-fruit pizzas.
