Minute Maid and their “Doin’ Good” campaign this Mother’s Day to celebrate great parents everywhere.
Yesterday was one of those days. My middle son was anchoring a debate {I am not sure that anchoring is the proper word, but he was first to present the negative position}. I walked in late as the second on his team presented her argument completely missing my son’s performance.
I felt awful!
Looking back, I see the time I forgot to deliver snacks to the school that I promised. The missed orthodontist appointment. The dog’s missed heartworm treatment. The laundry that stayed in the washer so long it started to mold. Dinners consisting of cold cereal. A birthday present didn’t arrive in time…
My list goes on and on.
Parenting is a complicated business! Some days are laced with forgetfulness, failure and fatigue. It is easy to remember those days and forget the sweet moments that happen amid the chaos.
Moments like the joke that was told that the entire family laughed at even though it wasn’t that funny. The walk along the lake. The dog sneaking food off the table. The shirt that was worn backwards. The baby turtle we found in the backyard. The tennis tournament with honorable mention. The drawing that surprised us all. The chores that were done with vigor. The new skateboard trick. The vacation plan…
My list goes on and on.
Parenting is full of snippets of the amazing. But they can be easily missed if we are wrapped up in our parenting fails.
This is one of the reasons I adore Minute Maid’s “Breakfast with Missy” promotion. Watch this video:
Have you had one of those days?
You know them...they start out just like every other day, but at some point things start to go awry.
Best laid plans.
